Our Story

NeuroHealthMaine – Providing Treatment and Relief to Patients with Depression.

When medications don't provide relief or you cannot tolerate the side effects of medications, then TMS therapy may be the right treatment for you. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, or TMS, is one of the most technologically-advanced depression treatments available. It is a simple drug-free way to treat depression, anxiety and many other neurologically-based illnesses and is available at NeuroHealthMaine in Portland, Maine.

Take a look at the picture (PET scan) of two brains below. The brain on the left is a picture of a balanced (normal) brain.

It has a lot of metabolic activity (the areas that are lit up) and the activity is balanced. You will see the image on the right is a picture of a brain with depression. The difference is striking. The depressed brain has low metabolic activity and is not balanced. TMS works on a cellular level to bring your brain into balance -- like the brain on the left -- a balanced and healthy brain.
