In lieu of an impending discontinuation of SNAP benefits on November 1st, I thought it might be helpful to share as many resources as possible. No one should go hungry in our country or community. I find this unacceptable.

Hello, All!

I don't post nearly as much as I used to but I wanted to share a reminder. The graphic below lists the insurances I am currently able to accept. If you'd like to schedule a session, the best way to do so is by emailing (openheartspace12@gmail.com) or texting me (240-378-0818), as I'm not able to answer calls while in sessions throughout the day. Also, sometimes voicemail messages break up and translate as "Hello. I'd like to see if big bird can schedule a cornflake with you for next football." 😄

Waiting area refresh almost there!

Did you know that at 12 Decatur we also have a massage therapist, music teacher/social worker, midwife/birthing services, and a new therapist who provides in-person & telehealth services? Watch for an upcoming post with each practitioner's information!

The arteest in me gets super excited changing things up! Our waiting area is getting a refresh. I am beyond lucky to have an amazing landlord who allows/helps/puts up with my shenanigans! 😉❤

Tuesday was the final day of working with the wonderful humans from the Cumberland Maryland Boys & Girls Club. They always bring me joy.

This summer the kids practiced relaxation via art making & meditation, created their own magical comfort spaces, learned about how music affects mood, and experimented with various art media. Our final project was creating mono prints using natural materials.

We talked about the benefits of making art, including emotion regulation, relaxation, building problem-solving skills, increasing self-esteem, and collaboration with others.

Yesterday, B&G's Club kiddos used visual imagery and guided meditation to help them imagine calming spaces. Then they created their own serene magical places. Of course, you can't have magic without fairies and rainbows and gemstones! Eeeeeek!!!😍
