Allegany County Health Department - Cumberland Maryland

Allegany County Health Department - Cumberland Maryland Healthy People, Healthy Communities The Allegany County Health Department is located in the rural mountains of Western Maryland.

In June 2006, we moved to two new buildings on Willowbrook Road in Cumberland. The Corporate Building is the bigger building located closest to the road, and houses the departments of Adminstration, Environmental Health, Mental Health System's Office (CSA), Nutrition Services, Physical Health, and the Public Health Preparedness Office. The health department shares this building with the League of Crippled Children, the Veteran's Administration, and Western Maryland Health System. Behavioral Health Services (Outpatient Mental Health, Oupatient Addictions, and Prevention), Dental Services, Boys Forestry Medical Services, and the Western Maryland Regional Laboratory share the Brook Building.

We are excited to introduce the new H.E.A.L. Mobile. This van will bring community-focused health services directly to you, overcoming barriers such as transportation. Look for the mobile unit to launch this February.

With many areas seeing icy bodies of waters, including puddles, ponds, creeks, and some rivers, this is a reminder to NOT try and walk on any of them. The ice will be too thin to support you and could lead to injury or worse. Please practice ice safety!

Keep yourself warm by dressing in layers when temperatures drop. Wear 2-3 layers, a warm hat, gloves, and waterproof boots to keep your body heat in and the cold out. Watch for signs of hypothermia, like shivering and confusion. Bundling up makes all the difference!
