Each October, American Pharmacists Month and National Pharmacy Week (October 19 – 25) celebrate the impact of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians on patient care.
In observance of the contributions pharmacy professionals make to improve the lives of individuals living with substance use disorders and chronic pain, MACS will host a live, virtual CME webinar on October 21.
Join our guest host Tyler Varisco, PharmD, PhD, assistant professor of health outcomes and the director of the Pharmacy Addictions Research & Medicine Program at UT Austin College of Pharmacy, as he will present on “Closing the Loop: Transitions of Care for Persons With Opioid Use Disorder.”
By the end of the session, participants will be able to identify the risks of untreated opioid use disorder or disruptions in treatment, review barriers to buprenorphine access in community pharmacies and consensus, evidence-based solutions, and create a plan to initiate and continue pharmacotherapy for opioid use disorder during transitions between the health system and community settings.
