A few months ago, one of our staff members came across a few soup recipes she wanted to try, and requested that we come up with an occasion in which staff would bring in different soups. After some investigating, we found that November 12 is National Chicken Soup for the Soul Day. This day is about nurturing your soul, reflecting on who you are, celebrating you and where you have been, and where you are going.
So, it is not necessarily meant to be a day for eating chicken soup. However, a nice steamy bowl of deliciousness made with love sure makes us feel better about ourselves! And thus, a soup bar day was born!
A variety of soups nurtured our souls: Chicken Noodle, Vegetable Beef, Creamy White Bean with Potato and Spinach, Loaded Baked Potato (a real crowd pleaser - the first pot to empty!), Creamy Potato, Butternut Squash, Chicken Chili, Stuffed Pepper, Maryland Vegetable Crab, Chicken Macaroni, and Creamy Cheese Potato Soup.
Thank you to those who shared their delicious soups!

It was our honor to say thank you to those who have served our great country in the Armed Forces. We thought of all of our family members who have since past, residents who are able to share their stories with us, family who are still with us, and people we have never met who served in so that we could be safe in our homes every day.
We were grateful to be able to hand out cards to our staff, residents, and guests that were handmade by students at Cash Valley Elementary School!

It's been a busy week here!
On Monday, we changed our clocks and tried to adjust to the time change.
On Tuesday we had the first Turkey Tuesday drawing, and awarded Jack with his turkey! We will draw a staff winner each Tuesday of the month.
On Wednesday, some residents took a trip to Walmart!
Thursday was National Nacho Day, so a pop-up nacho bar was in order.
Friday was National Jersey Day, so we represented a variety of sports, teams, and players.
Have a great weekend!

With the Hallowiener and Bake Sale fast approaching, Marife and Deb gathered some residents around the oven in the dining room to prepare some treats for sale. They look forward to selling the snacks to benefit the Resident and Staff Funds.
Before you load up on sweets, be sure to get the $5 Meal Deal: 2 hot dogs with Deb's Famous Sauce, chips, and a drink.

The AHNR Resident Council held their annual School Supply Drive, and we are very proud of our community and the donations received! Several boxes full of back packs, lunch boxes, crayons, notebooks, divider tabs, pencil pouches, markers, pens, glue sticks, scissors, pencils, erasers, paper, composition books, hole punches, rulers, and more were given to split between local elementary schools Westside and Northeast.
Shown are Resident Council President Sherri Edling, and Westside Elementary Community Coordinator Jill Wyer, with the donated supplies.
We hope the students continue to have a safe and studious academic year.
