Winter weather is coming, and we are ready! Our Emergency Management Team met to make sure our facility runs without a hitch this weekend. Generators were checked, extra food was stored, employee transportation was arranged, employee overnight accommodations have been made, backup staff has been scheduled, and the Maintenance team has their equipment and supplies prepared. Staff has been reminded of who to call, where to go, and what to do in an emergency situation. Caring for our residents is our top priority! Let's enjoy this beautiful snow safely!

We are collecting nonperishable food items for The Pantry at Allegany High School. This initiative was started to help prevent students from going home to houses with little or no food available to them in the evenings or over the weekends. We are asking for donations of bottled drinks, snacks, meal starter kits, sides, hygiene items, reusable bags, and any other items you think may be helpful.
Thank you to Martin's in LaVale for allowing us to borrow the shopping cart! It is eye catching and holds a lot... we hope to fill it!

Monday January 19, 2026 is a remarkable day for several reasons. We celebrated Dolly Parton's 80th birthday, National Popcorn Day, and the start of Activity Professionals Week!
Dolly's music played in the lobby while fresh, hot popcorn was popped and served (in pink bags!). Some played around with the Dolly Parton photo booth props! The residents attended a Dolly Parton Trivia Social.
Did you know: Dolly Parton's middle name is Rebecca. She was 1 of 12 kids! She was married since she was 20 years old, until her husband died last March. She kept her private life very private. She quietly took time away from performing to care for her husband, Carl Dean, when he was sick for about a year before his passing. Several of our residents have been fans of hers for her entire career, including visiting Dollywood, and seeing her perform at the Allegany County Fairgrounds in the late 1960s with the Porter Wagoner travelling show!
Happy Birthday, Dolly! Enjoy the day, popcorn eaters! Thank you, Activities Staff, for keeping our residents entertained and active!

We saved the bulk of the Dietary Department for last: our Dietary Aides! We are grateful for Brian, Kristy, Waxie, Mike, Steven, Mckenna, Nakendra, Brett, Aiden, and Crystal G.!
Did you know: planning meals isn't just about planning the food, but also the beverages. Some Residents require different levels of thickened liquids, which are made with amounts of a thickening agent added to the drink.

We celebrated National Pumpkin Day with... pumpkins, of course! Staff was able to taste all things pumpkin, from candy, cookies, cakes, and rolls, to oatmeal, donuts, brownies, and Pop Tarts! There was something for everyone, even those who don't like to eat pumpkin flavor!
