When 10-year-old Leah James saw her 7-year-old brother Logan choking beside her, she didn’t hesitate. Leah quickly performed the Heimlich maneuver—skills she learned from her mom, who works for the Lavon Police Department—and dislodged a piece of candy from his throat.
Thanks to her fast thinking and life-saving knowledge, Logan is safe, and Leah is being celebrated by her community and beyond.

On his way to work, NYC Police Detective Michael Greaney spotted a car racing on the highway shoulder. Inside, an 8-month-old baby was choking.
He acted immediately, using back blows to clear her airway. Moments later, the baby cried and began breathing again.
Thank you, Detective Greaney—a true hero. Quick action and lifesaving skills made all the difference, because being Rescue Ready matters when every second counts. ❤️

A baby in Smyrna, GA became unresponsive—and quick action saved a life.

On December 9, MPO Edwards and Officer Lahr arrived to find an infant limp and barely breathing. Without hesitation, MPO Edwards began CPR while Officer Lahr kept the airway clear.

After several cycles, the baby’s breathing improved—and he reached out and squeezed Officer Lahr’s finger.

Training, teamwork, and calm under pressure made all the difference. Way to go, officers. This is why being Rescue Ready matters ❤️
