I matter too. I am a person too. I am valuable. I am the baby's whole world so I need to be seen so I don't lose myself.

Another article about Centering. If you’re expecting you should check out this alternative to traditional prenatal care. I know it’s offered here in Atlanta at Providence Women's Health Care!

Group prenatal visits are catching on — they can save money and reduce the risk of premature births. For one mother, it turned out to be the best decision she made during her pregnancy.

“I didn't understand why she looked at us like we were wounded animals. It took a good friend finally texting saying, "A lot of people will tell you that you are doing things wrong as a mother. And you need to get to a place where you can smile, thank them for their time, and then do whatever you want. Whatever you know your baby needs." The next day, you had a bottle and I finally got to see what milk-drunk looked like on your beautiful face.”

We need more open dialogue regarding postpartum depression and anxiety...We certainly need to take better care of our moms. Our culture is so focused on the new baby that the new mom (adjusting to a completely new reality) is often forgotten.

On April 17 this year, Steven D’Achille’s wife Alexis would have celebrated her 36th birthday. “She was a homebody, so I would’ve cooked her a big Italian feast dinner and invited all of our friends and family over,” he tells Parade. “I would’ve spoiled her.”Sadly, Steven has had to ...

“Women, and especially mothers, are expected in our society to be martyrs who silently endure. It’s uncomfortable to see these harsh realities publicized and normalized because it bursts those bubbles of carefully curated perfection by forcing people to acknowledge that sometimes even the things that are supposed to be the most beautiful and sacred in this world (childbirth, motherhood) can frankly really suck.”

I can love my baby and also really hate many parts of this experience.

“Mamas with May due dates have a lot to celebrate: A baby born in May will have a spring in their step and can expect lots of good fortune in their future. Here are six ways a May due date can affect your bundle of joy for years to come”

They're pretty lucky.

“Many of us do not have a built-in social support network to help us in those difficult days of early motherhood. A new mom in 2019 may find her close relatives live on the other side of the country, and she doesn't know her neighbor's names. Or, she may be surrounded by people who would love to support her—but simply don't have the experience or time to be of service to her.”

But paying for one is a challenge for most.

Yes, the postpartum hair loss struggle is real!

We selflessly give our bodies to our babies... to make a home for them, to nurture them, to feed them, to comfort them. We give and give… and then give some more to all of our loved ones, but most especially to our children. We do all the things… the remembering, the worrying, the planning, the ...

Curious about Water Birth? Some of our classes teach about water birth 😀😀😀and there are many providers in Atlanta that offer water birth as an option.

Water facilitates mobility and enables the mother to assume any position that is comfortable for labor and birth, can speed up labor, give mother feelings of control, provide significant pain relief, promote relaxation, conserve mother’s energy & reduce the need for drugs and interventions...not to mention a gentler welcome for baby!
