I just heard on the news that the average person will consume over 2,400 calories on Super Bowl Sunday. Say what?!?! That is an insane number of calories!

Think of it this way, for everyone who weighs an average of 150 pounds you would have to do 2,160 Burpees, run 24 miles, or do roughly 750 kettle bell swings with a moderately heavy kettle bell to equal a calorie burn that high.

Before you prepare your high calorie, high fat food items for that big party do yourself and your friends a favor and prepare something healthy to share.

They say 21 days kicks a habit. Well for me this is so true. It has been 21 days since I have had a coveted cup of Starbucks coffee (from the coffee shop) and I don't miss it. $2.62 per day, on average of 4 days per week, almost every week. It was a habit and I don't miss it. I have also reduced my coffee intake all together and my gut thanks me. What habits have you kicked or do you want to kick?

As a parent I have an inner struggle with myself trying to promote healthy eating habits and nutrition to my children while also trying to balance a kids need to be a kid a succumb to junk food cravings occasionally. I am a firm believer in balance of all things. With that said I was a child that was raised having to clean my plate as I am sure many of you were. I typically do not require that of my children unless there are certain circumstances that I feel warrant a clean plate at a meal. With portion sizes being very skewed when dining out I try not to clean my plate to set the example to my kids they don't have to either. We have a system of number of bites they are required to eat of each thing. Out of curiosity what are your food requirements of your children in this regard? Clean plate or not? So curious to hear your input so please comment.

Happy early birthday to me...my sweet hubby bought me 2 spin bikes for my birthday. Now for those of you who are thinking "What a jerk" I BEGGED for one and he is so good to me and decided to get me 2 so we can spin together. Let me just say that the spin bike KICKED MY B***Y today!
