We’re thrilled to share that Heart and Vascular Care is home to several 2026 Castle Connolly Top Doctors!

There are over 1.1 million physicians in the U.S., yet only 7% qualify to be recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor. Beyond the plaques and the titles, what makes this award special is that it confirms what we already know: our doctors treat every patient like family. As we kick off 2026, don’t just add more to your "to-do" list; make sure "de-stressing" is at the very top!

Healthy outlets to try this week:
🚶‍♀️Movement: A simple 10-minute walk to clear the fog.
🧘 Mindfulness: Focused breathing to reset your nervous system.
👫 Connection: Reaching out to a friend or loved one.
🛌 Rest: Prioritizing quality sleep as a non-negotiable.

New year, new rhythm. Making time to unwind isn't "extra" it's essential.

New year, new goals, but don’t forget the engine that powers them all. ❤️
As we step into 2026, prioritizing your heart health is the ultimate resolution. Understanding the warning signs of heart failure isn't just about awareness; it's about staying in the game for all the milestones ahead.

Watch for these red flags:
🚩 Shortness of breath (even during rest or light activity).
🚩 Persistent coughing or wheezing.
🚩 Swelling in the feet, ankles, or legs.
🚩 Fatigue and feeling lightheaded.
🚩 Increased heart rate or "racing" sensation.

Make "listening to your body" your top goal this year. If something feels off, don't wait, talk to a professional.

This holiday season, the halls of Heart and Vascular Care were filled with more than just festive decor; they were filled with profound gratitude and the spirit of survival. On Monday, at the HVC Cartersville location, Dr. Rajeeve Subbiah and his team partnered with ZOLL LifeVest to surprise a very special patient, retired Special Forces Ranger Jerry Palmer, with a gesture of holiday magic and appreciation.

The bond between Jerry Palmer and Dr. Subbiah spans eight years, beginning with a heart failure diagnosis that led to a long, courageous battle. Jerry’s health journey has been a testament to his "Ranger" spirit. Two years ago, the Veteran’s Administration placed Jerry on hospice care, a moment that many would have seen as the end of the road. However, Jerry defied the odds, eventually coming off hospice and continuing his fight for health.

Last year, Jerry faced a critical decline in heart function. To protect him during this vulnerable period, he was prescribed the ZOLL LifeVest. The LifeVest is a wearable defibrillator designed to monitor a patient’s heart around the clock. If it detects certain life-threatening rapid heart rhythms, it automatically delivers a treatment shock to restore a normal rhythm, providing a literal safety net for patients regardless of their location or the time of day.

The LifeVest served as the vital bridge Jerry needed. Today, Jerry has progressed to receiving a permanent implantable defibrillator, marking a new chapter of stability in his recovery. "We’re Dr. Subbiah’s biggest fans," said Taleshia Palmer, Jerry’s wife, while reflecting on the years of care. "We’ll follow him anywhere. He has been with us through everything."

The event on Monday served as a celebration of Jerry’s life and the technology that helped save it. In collaboration with ZOLL LifeVest, HVC provided Jerry with a holiday gifts to honor his service to his country and his incredible persistence as a patient.

"Jerry represents why we do what we do," said Dr. Subbiah. "Seeing a patient go from hospice to where he is today is the greatest gift a physician could ask for.”🎄❤️
