PTSD is considered a comorbidity to PMDD, but which comes first? Personally, I believe the PTSD or trauma of any kind can trigger a woman with underlying autoimmune disease into full blown AI, leading to hormone imbalance and continued stress during the luteal phase. Childhood trauma can have life long health implications new studies show.

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is often comorbid with premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) in women; however, it is unclear whether this relationship is driven by the trauma that may lead to PTSD or if PTSD is uniquely associated with PMDD. In ...

Yes, a gluten-free diet and also a low or dairy-free diet reduces inflammation and period pain in many who have severe PMS or PMDD. It doesn't hurt to give it a try.

In this Special Feature, we look at the anecdotal evidence that going gluten-free could help relieve period pain. Two health experts weigh in on the topic.

A former athlete client, Karen Laansoo, asked me to do her podcast 'Silver is the New Gold'. We discuss how and why I started the Cycle Diet and why it's important that women understand the connection between nutrition and their menstrual cycle health. We also talk about competitive sports and the menstrual cycle and why women might not want to follow the same diet programs men follow. It's a little long so I hope you find a little time to listen when you can.

In this episode, Karen talks with Debra Riedesel, Registered Dietician and founder of the Cycle Diet, about nutrition therapy for women. Topics include: PMS, PMDD, Menopause, HRT and what's in that darn dairy.

With permission, I'm very pleased to share a fantastic podcast and website, 'Silver is the New Gold', by a former client. She shares her personal story about dealing with life, personal tragedy, health issues and PMS/PMDD. Her journey to wellness was a long one and I feel privileged to be a small part of it. Her wellness discussion starts around 14 minutes in, but the whole podcast is fascinating. Enjoy.

From Silver is the New Gold Podcast: Karen talks about her lifelong journey in sports. Released: 2020.

For those of you who have IgE hypersensitive food allergies outside the top 8,(or Celiac) please be aware of the possible ingredient changes taking place in certain food products due to changes in the food supply. The FDA is allowing some modest substitutes in processed foods without a change in the food label. No real need to panic unless your allergies are outside the top 8. As a reminder the top 8 food allergens are: Eggs, wheat, dairy, soy, tree nuts, peanuts, fish and crustaceans. As someone who recommends sticking with 'whole foods' and fewer processed foods, the probability of ingesting an allergen remains low. If you rely on a lot of processed foods, it wouldn't hurt to follow a food allergy group or Celiac group for more in-depth updates. I like the Gluten Intolerance Group, (GIG) gluten.org , The Gluten-Free Watchdog glutenfreewatchdog.org, and FARE https://www.foodallergy.org

FARE is the largest private funder of food allergy research advocating on behalf of the 32 million Americans living with potentially life-threatening food allergies.

A gluten-free diet looks like it may help lessen migraine headaches by increasing an enzyme called Diamine Oxidase that metabolizes histamine. Small study:

Only 1 patient fit the criteria for celiac disease, rendering this result inconclusive. Pathological findings of the remainder of patients were attributed to NCGS (n = 10). 9 of 10 patients with NCGS belonged to the decreased serum DAO activity group (group 1; n = 26), suggesting a strong relationsh...
