Party Time! Gameshow Battle Rooms was a fun and joyful experience that we went to Atlanta when we were entertaining out of town guests. Good news! It's a national chain so there may be one near you. We played with the minimum amount of eight players, so two teams of four. I think an optimal size wou...

My most requested in-person keynote or webinar event is "Juggling, Work, Home, and Caregiving." Here's a bit about this program:

Balancing the competing responsibilities of a career, home, and caregiving can feel overwhelming and exhausting. Family caregivers often find themselves stretched too thin, unsure of how to keep up with the constant demands of their roles. Elizabeth Miller, a sandwich-generation caregiver at the height of her career, understands these challenges firsthand.

In this program, Elizabeth shares her caregiving journey, offering mindset shifts and practical strategies for juggling caregiving and work more sustainably. You’ll gain actionable tips for navigating caregiving crises, maintaining professional value, and finding balance amid chaos. Attendees will also connect with others in similar situations, exchanging insights and resources to support their caregiving journey.

After participating in this program, attendees will be able to:

Understand the bigger picture: Learn key family caregiving facts and figures to reaffirm that you are not alone in this experience.

Communicate effectively: Implement proven communication strategies to manage expectations at home and in the workplace.

Prepare for crises: Develop a proactive plan to handle caregiving emergencies, recognizing that it’s not a matter of β€œif” but β€œwhen.”

Simplify life: Organize your home life, reassess responsibilities, and incorporate technology to streamline caregiving tasks.

Seek support and thrive: Identify ways to access support, minimize feelings of guilt, and enhance your overall well-being.

This session will empower family caregivers with the tools and confidence to juggle work, home, and caregiving without sacrificing well-being.

🐾 New self-care goal: Talk to ourselves the way we talk to my dogs.

Hear me out.

When I'm around my dogs, the love just comes out.

"Hi cutie!"

"Are you hungry?"

"Do you need some water?"

"You're so smart!"

"Want to go for a walk?"

"Want a treat?"

"Give me a kiss!"

So why is it so hard to offer that same gentleness to ourselves?

As caregivers, we pour that kind of warmth into everyone around us, our loved ones, families, and pets. But when it comes to our own needs? We wait, minimize, and tell ourselves we're fine.

What if self-care started with something as simple as asking ourselves "Am I hungry?" before hitting a wall... or "Do I need some water?" before the headache kicks in... or even looking in the mirror and thinking "Hi cutie", and meaning it. πŸ˜„

Our dogs think we're the greatest people on earth. Maybe it's time we started agreeing with them. πŸΆπŸ’›

Before you react β€” HALT. πŸ›‘

Next time you're feeling overwhelmed, off, or on edge, check in with yourself first. Are you...

🍎 Hungry β€” Low blood sugar spikes irritability and clouds judgment. Have you eaten today?

πŸ”₯ Angry β€” Unaddressed emotions color everything. What's really going on beneath the surface?

🀝 Lonely β€” Isolation amplifies the negative. Who can you reach out to today?

πŸŒ™ Tired β€” Fatigue erodes resilience. Rest isn't a luxury, it's a necessity.

Addressing the root need changes everything. Before you send that text, make that decision, or spiral into worry, pause and HALT.

A huge thank you to Susanne White, The Caregiver Warrior, for introducing this powerful tool. If you're a caregiver or supporting a loved one through a difficult journey, Susanne's work is an incredible resource, go give her a follow! πŸ™Œ

Self-care is different for everyone, and sometimes we need different self-care strategies for different days. We also have to try on strategies to see how they make us feel.

It's like the clothes in our closet. Some things work better for us, and we need different items and accessories for different occasions.

Sometimes the clothes/strategies no longer work, and we can donate those ideas to someone else. Keep what works, and soon you'll have a full closet full of personalized options!

What's in your closet?
