The day started out a little bumpy after yesterdays blow day. We went right back out to where we finished on Sunday and found a decent batch of fish. We finished the day 14 for 19 with 5 kings and 7 steelhead going into the cooler for another boat limit. We released 2 steelhead caught while clearing lines at the end of the day.

Mid-Week Update:

We arrived in Point Breeze on Sunday afternoon. After getting settled into our AirBnB we headed out for a couple hours in the evening for an evening shakedown. We finished with 3 decent Steelhead before pulling lines and heading back to port. Sunday morning was about as perfect as it can get. It took us a bit to find the fish, but once we did, it was chaos on the deck. We finished with 4 Kings and 8 Steelhead for a boat limit. We woke up Monday morning to some heavy winds and waves that were supposed to build as they day goes on. We headed out to see if we could make the best of the current conditions. We picked up 2 Kings before the waves and developing storms sent us seeking refuge back on land. Here it is Tuesday and looks as though the day is going to be a total loss due to wind and waves. Hopefully Mother Nature has better plans for tomorrow.

I pulled the boat Saturday afternoon in order to get some much needed cleaning and maintenance done before I drag the boat to New York next weekend for a week of salmon fishing on Lake Ontario. Today, I got the cabin detailed, a 2nd graph/screen installed, and the outside power washed before I called it quits for the night. Tomorrow evening I’ll work on detailing the exterior and getting the boat rigged for salmon fishing.

Saturday morning I had Nick, John, and young Liam aboard for a short perch fishing trip. We started early to get a jump on the high temperatures forecasted for the day. The perch bite was slow, but we managed enough for an evening fish fry back at their camp, before the heat had us headed back to the dock. Unfortunately, I failed to take any pics. Luckily Captain Dustin snapped a pic of us from afar!

Friday evening I had these three young men aboard for a short perch fishing excursion. Although the fish didn’t cooperate as much as we’d have liked, they all enjoyed themselves, and they went home with some bounty for their first Lake Erie perch fish fry.

Day 2 for my Chicago guys was on the slower side. We finished with 65 perch weighing 20lbs. Lots of sheepshead, white perch, short walleye, and short perch. It seems the perch bite is getting better everyday. Thanks to the cleaners at Al Szuch Live Bait, they will be heading home with about 25lbs of filets between the two days.

This was my last walleye trip for a few months, I pulled all the walleye gear off the boat this evening. Day 1 for my Chicago guys had us finishing with the customers limit of walleye and 4 for the captain. We also picked up 32 yellow perch. Tomorrow we will spend the day in search of some more Lake Erie Yellow Gold! Perch fishing is starting to fire up, and my calendar is getting full. Give me a call to secure your day on the lake.
