Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month

Miscarriage or the loss of a baby can bring deep feelings of sadness, grief, anger, and isolation. This grief is valid, and healing takes time. When you are ready, resources and communities are here to support you. WIC will also continue to provide benefits for up to 6 months following your loss.

You deserve support, healing, and connection—every step of the way. ❤️

October is Pregnancy, Infant and Child Loss Awareness Month.

This month, we honor all of the beautiful lives who were lost too soon and support those who have lost a little one. If you have experienced the loss of a baby, please know that you are not alone 🩷

1 in 4 pregnancies results in miscarriage, and 1 in 160 results in a stillbirth. But they are more than statistics – they are children, grandchildren, siblings and more. 🩷

This October and always, we see you, we honor you, we hold space for you. You are still a mother and your baby still matters.

Attention parents, caregivers, and drivers! Montana’s child passenger safety laws just underwent an important upgrade. As of October 1, new requirements under HB 586 are in effect to better protect our children in vehicles. 🚗

Key Changes You Need to Know:
• Children under age 2 must ride in a rear-facing car seat with an internal harness.
• Children ages 2 to 4 can use rear- or forward-facing car seats.
• Kids ages 4 to 8 must be secured in a forward-facing seat or booster with a lap-shoulder belt.
• Only children age 9 or older, or those who exceed car seat height/weight limits, may use the adult seat belt alone.

A post taken from Dawson County Health Department that I think a lot of us can relate to.

The average child spends 7+ hours a day on screens. 😳 Too much screen time can affect sleep, focus, mood, and even social skills.
Try this simple reset:
📱 Set “no-phone zones” during dinner & bedtime
⏳ Use built-in screen timers on devices
🌳 Encourage outdoor time daily — even 20 minutes helps
🧩 Swap 30 minutes of scrolling for board games, reading, or creative play
It’s not about eliminating screens — it’s about creating balance that supports healthier brains and happier kids. 💛

💙💜 Today is , an important reminder about the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, the three-digit number in the U.S. that connects people directly to free, confidential support during a mental health, substance use, or suicidal crisis. 💙💜

Here’s why it matters:
• Easy access to help: Just like 911, but for mental health.
• Immediate support: Trained crisis counselors available 24/7 by call, text, or chat.
• Reducing stigma: Reaching out for support should feel as normal as asking for medical help.
• Saving lives: Quick intervention can prevent self-harm and su***de.
• Community connection: Linking people to ongoing local resources when needed.

If you’re struggling, please know you don’t have to face it alone.💙💜

Air quality for our area is currently in the moderate zone (as of 9:00am). There is a possibility that air quality will worsen throughout the day. It's important to take precautions early, especially for people with health conditions or younger kids.

⛺Outdoor activities: postpone or limit
💠Find cleaner air: Use a portable HEPA air cleaner. Keep doors and windows closed. Use air conditioned community spaces like the library, mall or rec center to cool off.
💦Stay cool: hydrate!
⚕Monitor symptoms and check on neighbors: Seek medical care if you experience chest discomfort, shortness of breath, severe coughing or wheezing and dizziness.
