Navigate Counseling and Consultation Services provides mental health services to individuals, couples, and families in the greater Akron, OH area and beyond. We also provide continuing education and consultation for counselors and other helping professionals seeking to improve competence in working with a variety of presenting concerns and populations. Navigate Counseling is proud to be a leader in LGBTQ-affirming counseling. We promise that as a client of Navigate you will be seen and understood for who you truly are and your identities will be embraced and celebrated! We have clinicians on staff who are able to assist you in understanding your sexual and gender identities and navigating milestone moments in life. We are proud members of the Cuyahoga Falls Chamber of Commerce, the Towpath Chamber of Commerce, and Plexus - Ohio’s LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce. Navigate currently has two locations:

That’s a wrap on the 2026 Waypoint Conference and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome!

It is our hope that all attendees were able to embrace the 2026 theme of “Living out Loud: Promoting Visibility, Unity, and Empowerment,” and left Waypoint feeling refreshed and inspired in their work with q***r and trans clients.

We can’t sign off without expressing a special thank you to our collaborators from Refuge Counseling LLC and the Ohio Bereavement Collaborative, Odyssey Eating Disorder Network, Baldwin Wallace University, and (of course) our peers here at Navigate.

Meet Savannah and Justin, presenters at the 2026 Waypoint Conference!

Savannah, lead presenter, is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and holds a Master’s degree from Kent State in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She specializes in treatment of OCD, with her primary modality for treatment being Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. She has presented at Association for Humanistic Counseling and All Ohio Counselors Conference, speaking on intimate partner violence and burnout and boundaries for clinicians.

Justin, co-presenter, is an LPCC-S and brings over 4 years of experience working in diverse clinical settings. He previously has presented at AOCC 2025 and has facilitated numerous trainings internally within Navigate and externally for the community. His clinical work has focused on utilizing Exposure Therapy across varying levels of intensity.

Gena Hicks, M.Ed., LPCC-S is a co-presenter at the virtual Waypoint Conference!

Gena is a licensed professional clinical counselor and supervisor in the state of Ohio and received her Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kent State University. She has been practicing at Navigate Counseling and Consultation Services since 2021. Her clinical expertise includes working with complex trauma and dissociation with EMDR therapy and Parts Work. Gena has experience presenting on LGBTQ+-affirming care, and recently presented at the All-Ohio Counselors Conference in 2025.

Gena is presenting “All of Me: Promoting Self Compassion through Parts Work with Trans* Clients” with Anika Kaufman, M.Ed., LPC.

Meet Kimberlee Barrella, LPCC-S, a presenter at the 2026 Waypoint Conference!

Kimberlee Barrella, M.Ed., LPCC-S (she/her), is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with supervisory designation and a doctoral candidate in Counselor Education and Supervision at Kent State University. She teaches counseling courses across Northeast Ohio and specializes clinically in identity exploration with adolescents, emerging adults, women, and LGBTQIA+ clients. She is a MINT member, and her research examines Motivational Interviewing Learning Communities.

Meet our next presenter for the 2026 Waypoint Conference, Nancy Baur, LPCC-S, LICDC, EOLD!✨

Nancy (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervision designation and a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor. She specializes in trauma therapy for children, adolescents, and people struggling with addiction. She is an adjunct instructor for the University of Rio Grande and a current student at the University of Vermont completing my certification as a Death Doula.

Nancy will be the co-presenter for her presentation “Strength in Community: Peer Support Pathways for Grieving LGBTQ+ Adolescents” with Dr. Kailey Bradley!

We are excited to be joined by Dr. Kailey Bradley at the 2026 Waypoint Conference!

Dr. Bradley (she/her) is a licensed professional counselor, nationally certified counselor, and fellow in thanatology. She also holds a doctorate in counselor education and supervision from Ohio University. Currently, she is an adjunct professor at both Marian University and Marshall University. Dr. Bradley is the clinical director at Refuge Counseling LLC and the co-founder and executive director of the Ohio Bereavement Collaborative, a non-profit grief organization.

Dr. Bradley is joined by Nancy Baur, LPCC-S, LICDC, EOLD for their shared presentation of “Strength in Community: Peer Support Pathways for Grieving LGBTQIA+ Adolescents.”
