Last weekend, we had a tailgate party in honor of football season! Everyone enjoyed Panini sandwiches, chips & dip, pretzels, cheese and crackers, beverages, football shaped brownies, and more. We loved cheering on our favorite teams and eating tailgate classics! 🏈

Last week, we had the opportunity to participate in a seated rhythm class. The residents loved listening to the music, dancing along, and getting active!

Last week, Michael Davis visited our facility to entertain our residents. Everyone loves when he visits, and we always have a great time. We can’t wait to have Michael back again soon!

Last week, we celebrated National Wildlife Day by making some of our favorite wildlife animals with crayons, markers, tissue paper, glitter and sand. They all turned our great and everyone had a blast!

Recently, we used our creativity to create some sand art. It was a lot of fun, and the residents loved making them. They couldn’t believe how beautiful they turned out!

Last week, we used out Bingo bucks at a Bingo auction! Residents earn the Bingo bucks when they participate in activities and save them up for some awesome prizes. Residents used their auction paddles to bid on the prizes they wanted. Now, time to start saving up our bucks again!

July 31st was National Avocado Day! To celebrate, we made fresh guacamole using avocados, tomatoes, garlic, and seasoning. It was a join effort, and the residents loved helping out. We enjoyed the guacamole with tortilla chips, Doritos, and mock-tail Pina Coladas. It was a delicious celebration! 🥑

Meet our July Employee of the Month… Amber!

Amber Miller is our receptionist and also helps out in activities. During her 2 years as a part of our team, Amber has enjoyed building relationships with the residents and watching them succeed. Her motivation to come to work every day is being able to be a part of a great team and work environment. When asked what advice she would give to new employees joining the team, Amber stated, “Smile. You never know if someone’s having a rough day. Your smile could change someone’s day.

Amber has a dog and a cat. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephew, reading, and enjoying the outdoors. A fun fact about Amber is that her favorite food is Mexican!

We are so thankful to have Amber as a part of our team, and we can’t wait to see what her future has in store for her. Congratulations, Amber! 💙

A few weeks ago, we celebrated Christmas in July! We enjoyed homemade chicken cheeseballs, cheese cubes and crackers, strawberry wafers, iced tea, and more. In the afternoon, we played Bingo with a little Christmas twist! All the prizes were wrapped, but everyone had to wait until we were done playing to open their prizes and see what everyone got. There was plenty of fun had by all, and we can’t wait until actual Christmas in a few short months!

Last week, we celebrated the good news of the Lord with the Arlington Church of God. Together, we read from the Bible and sang hymns. Our visitors were also happy to pray over anyone that requested it. It was an absolute pleasure to have the church members visit, and we hope to have them back soon!

July 24th was National Drive-Thru Day! To celebrate, we set up a Drive-Thru for the residents to enjoy a Drive-Thru style experience. They got to choose between Blueberry Muffins, Cinnamon Muffins, or a cup of Glazed Munchkins. The treats were delicious, but the residents’ smiles were even sweeter!

Last week, our Dining Room was full that we had to move to the activity area to play Bingo. Fun was had by all and many prizes were given out. Bingo was a hit, as always!

A big thank you to the Akron Zoo for visiting our Altercare Cuyahoga Falls residents and bringing some zoo fun to the facility!

On Wednesday, our facility was full of excitement as we welcomed a special guest, the Akron Zoo! They brought three animals from around the world for our residents and staff to meet. We got to see Winter, a beautiful Albino White Dove from Africa, Louis, a Skink Lizard from the Solomon Islands, and Olaf, a Chinchilla from the Andes Mountains. We were also able to touch a Skunk pelt and a turtle shell. The education we received about the animals was so exciting and we absolutely loved getting to see these animals up close and personal. A big thank you to the Akron Zoo for bringing some zoo fun to our facility!
