‼️ YES ‼️
The hoops we are STILL jumping through for a federally legal crop is insane. Going into a gas station and seeing floral material for sale from who knows where is beyond frustrating.
It’s time to update policies to benefit KENTUCKY farmers.
Subject: Urgent Help Needed for Kentucky H**p Farmers. Planting season is near. We need immediate action.
Dear Senator McConnell,
I am a small h**p farmer who helped bring this industry to Kentucky through education and advocacy with Kentucky Proud Green Remedy. I have dedicated years to promoting the value of h**p in our society, yet I now find myself struggling to sustain my farm due to restrictive policies that unfairly disadvantage small farmers like me.
Despite making significant capital investments in infrastructure, my farm is unable to generate income because Kentucky has banned all floral h**p products, including h**p microgreens—a vital part of my original business plan. Meanwhile, many shops continue to sell floral h**p products without legal enforcement, leaving small farmers like me held to a different, stricter standard.
Other states, such as Arizona, have embraced h**p microgreens, recognizing their potential as a nutrient-rich superfood. Since 2022, Arizona has allowed farmers to grow them under clear, regulated guidelines. Why are Kentucky farmers, who helped lay the foundation for this industry, being left behind?
Additionally, Kentucky’s medical cannabis program failed to recognize the dedication of h**p farmers who pioneered this crop. We invested time, money, and effort to develop expertise—only to be excluded from the very industry we helped to establish.
I have reached out to the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, but my concerns have gone unanswered. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to meet with someone in Frankfort to discuss solutions that support small farmers rather than push them out.
Senator McConnell, I am asking for your help. Please hear me and the many other h**p farmers who are struggling under these unfair policies. We are not asking for special treatment—just a fair chance to compete and contribute to Kentucky’s agricultural economy.
I would love the opportunity to speak with you or your team about how we can move forward. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Chad Wilson
Small Kentucky Proud H**p Farmer
