The only way to really tell if you should consider referral for a surgical intervention is to have an assessment by someone who is thoroughly trained and experienced in assessing both FUNCTION AND ANATOMY. And while a tongue tie surgery may be part of the answer for some babies, it doesn't solve all problems. So your baby may still have challenges even after the procedure. Working with an experienced IBCLC is critical to get the best outcome.
