Can an Autism Diagnosis Qualify Your Child for SSI Income?

Did you know that a diagnosis of autism could make your child eligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI)? SSI is a federal program designed to help families of children with disabilities by providing financial assistance to cover the costs of care.

To qualify, the Social Security Administration (SSA) considers:

Medical Eligibility: The diagnosis must meet the SSA’s criteria for autism, including limitations in communication, social interaction, and behaviors that impact daily functioning.

Financial Eligibility: SSI is need-based, so household income and resources must fall below certain thresholds.

If your child meets these requirements, SSI can provide monthly financial support to help with care costs.
