We had an incredible time at the 2025 CFISD Health Expo at the Berry Center today. Our team loved meeting families, students, and community members, and sharing more about the mental health services we offer at Cy-Hope Counseling.

Feeling overwhelmed? You’re not alone.
When everything feels too heavy, start small:
1️⃣ Pause and breathe. Inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4.
2️⃣ Name what’s overwhelming you. Sometimes clarity brings calm.
3️⃣ Do one small thing. Fold a shirt, send one email, take one step.
4️⃣ Ground yourself. Notice 5 things you can see, 4 you can touch, 3 you can hear, 2 you can smell, 1 you can taste.
5️⃣ Be kind to yourself. You don’t have to do it all today.

Overwhelm doesn’t mean you’re failing — it’s a signal to slow down, not give up. 🌿

🍌 The CBT Banana Explained 🍌
Our thoughts have layers—just like this banana.

✨ The outer peel: Automatic Negative Thoughts (ANTs) — the quick, often critical thoughts that pop up first.
✨ The inner peel: Underlying Assumptions — the “rules” we create about ourselves and the world, often formed early in life.
✨ The core: Core Beliefs — the deep-rooted ideas we hold about who we are (“I’m not good enough,” “I’ll always fail,” etc.).

CBT helps us peel back the layers—to move from automatic reactions to understanding why we think and feel the way we do.

Next time you catch an ANT 🐜, try asking:
➡️ What assumption is this thought based on?
➡️ What core belief might be hiding underneath?

Awareness is the first step to change 💛
