The inspiration for the operation stems from the founder’s personal journey. As an Army Major with 18 years of service, and combat veteran in Iraq and Afghanistan, Tice found that traditional therapy and medications were helpful but did not make him feel whole again. He feels, he "left a piece of himself over there". He can explain from firsthand experience how a Soldier’s behavior may be harmful to a spouse or children without the Soldier recognizing a problem. Like many with PTSD, he had at times questioned whether his family would just be better off without him. The best therapy he has found is being around others who have experienced similar feelings, because those who have never been to war may have good intentions but may find it difficult to really relate to a Soldier’s behavior or thought patterns. The intention of the foundation is to create a safe place for these Soldiers to go to work on healing with like minds while leaving behind the worries of the cost of living. The mission is to provide a long term safe haven (1 year) for Veterans and their families to complete the circle of rehabilitation and become whole again. The operation will be headquartered in the city of Dade City, Pasco County in the state of Florida. But its operations will offer assistance to Veterans nationally. Below are a list of alternative therapies that have been researched and found to aid in healing. The Circle of Veterans will offer these therapies, while being open to further exploration with the understanding that all have different wounds and all heal differently.
