SkyeHelps Licensed Professional Counselors. All ages. All challenges. Each party may choose to utilize a lawyer during the medication or may choose to come by themselves.

Counseling is a process by which individuals, couples and families can learn to manage life's challenges in order to achieve a greater level of identity, peace, and joy. Skye helps individuals of all ages, couples and families work through problems, gain emotional stability, learn effective communication, and learn to solve problems independently. What to expect:

Skye's office is set up with a comfortable waiting room and a session room in the Sargent Building located on the square in Dahlonega, Georgia. For child or adolescent therapy, the family is expected to be involved in helping the child achieve a level of emotional intelligence and regulation that creates stability within the child. For couples counseling, Skye may choose to meet individually and/or as a couple to reach the couple's relational goals. For family counseling, Skye may choose to meet individually and/or as a family or with the parents in order to gain insight into the family dynamics and to achieve the family's goals. Skye's approach to therapy is generally Person Centered, focusing on the strengths of the individual to work out problems and implement solutions independently. When working with children and families, Skye generally utilizes Parent-Child Interaction Therapy techniques to lessen the conflict between the child and their care-giver and increase effective communication. Clients generally experience some insight within the first few sessions and generally experience lessened negative symptoms such as anxiety and depression within three to five sessions, depending on the willingness of the client to engage in the therapeutic process. However, psychotherapy can be a very intense emotional experience and sometimes clients experience increased negative symptoms before they are able to manage emotions effectively. Mediation is a process by which two parties utilize a registered neutral to assist in coming to an agreeable solution to their dispute. Sometimes mediation is ordered by the court and sometimes parties decide to mediate on their own in an effort to solve their own problems. Skye helps divorcing or divorced couples create legally binding agreements for issues such as custody, alimony, and divisions of property. What to expect:

Skye can host the mediation at her office in Dahlonega, Georgia, can meet the parties at the 9th District Office of Dispute Resolution in Gainesville, Georgia, or can meet at an attorney's office of the parties choosing. Skye will meet with each party individually in separate rooms to understand that party's position then go back and forth between parties to come to a resolution. The agreement will be written and signed by the parties on the same day and sent to the 9th District Office of Dispute Resolution. It is then the responsibility of the parties and/or their lawyers to present the agreement to a judge for final approval. Mediation generally takes four to eight hours, but can take more or less time depending on the complexity of the issues and the willingness of the parties to negotiate in good-faith. A divorce coach is an experienced professional who assists an individual or a family through the emotional turmoil of a divorce. Skye helps the parents and the children of divorce navigate the rough emotional waters of a separation. What to expect:

Getting a divorce is an emotional and financial strain for the parents and it is a huge emotional strain for children. Allowing a professional to guide you and your children through the process makes a stressful situation more manageable.
