Brave Bags is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to creating care packages for children who are hospitalized in Iowa. These packages contain various items such as socks, lotion, small toys, coloring/art supplies, and more! Katie Phillips and her students collect these items and then work together to package each Brave Bag according to the child's age and gender. The main goal of Brave Bags i

s to instill in our students the importance of prioritizing the needs of others over their own. We believe that even at a young age, they can make a positive impact in our world. Additionally, our mission is to provide support and inspiration to hospitalized children, reminding them of their bravery. Over the past 4 years, we have distributed over 1,000 Brave Bags to various hospitals across Iowa, including Fort Dodge Regional Medical Center, Des Moines Children's Hospital, Iowa Children's Hospital, Mercy Medical Center, and more!

💥💥After taking a school year off, Brave Bags is coming BACK 🖤💥💥

We made the decision to pause this current school year because we never want to overwhelm the incredible businesses and individuals who donate year after year. Your generosity is what makes this possible, and giving everyone a breather felt like the right thing to do.

There were a couple of big changes these past 2 years! I’ve moved to the Thompson area (Northern Iowa), and Mr. Hoogland will continue leading the Brave Bags charge for Humboldt Community Schools. I’m so grateful to have someone so dedicated continuing the work there. So Humboldt peeps, your contact and drop off can still be the Humboldt Middle School!

Looking ahead, my hope is to bring Brave Bags to North Iowa Middle School next school year so both communities can come together and make an even bigger impact on both the students and hospitalized kiddos. The more hands/donations we have, the more kids in the hospital we can support—and that’s what it’s all about!!

Thank you for continuing to believe in this mission. We’re just getting started again 🖤 Stay tuned!

Hey Friends!!
Brave Bags received a donation in honor of Dylan Hill. Dylan was diagnosed with Leukemia when he was 17 years old and is still being treated at Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines. He has a heart for the younger kiddos who are suffering from cancer and childhood illnesses.

Dylan will hopefully ring the bell in March and will be cancer-free! 🤩🎉

We are all thinking of you, Dylan!! Keep being BRAVE!

We are deeply honored to have been selected by Life 107.1 as their sponsored organization.

Our heartfelt thanks also go to the wonderful owners of Walter Roofing for their generous support and heartfelt contribution to our mission. Their giving is especially meaningful as it honors their nephew, who has spent much of his life in the hospital. Their kindness and compassion truly make a difference.
