❣️A postpartum doula can still be helpful and fill in gaps of care between the support of the partner, other family members and friends. We can come immediately after birth to answer questions and help mom heal or after the partner returns to work to be a primary support person.
❣️As a PP doula, we are there to support mom. That may be helping with breasfeeding, physical support while recovering from birth, making meals or cleaning the kitchen. Our primary job is NOT to hold baby, unless that is what mom would find most supportive at that time.
❣️Everyone deserves a PP doula to make the transition to parenthood or adding additional children, more smooth! If you plan ahead and save as little as $10 a month for the entire pregnancy, that is a few hours of someone else making meals, cleaning or helping with newborn care and answering questions that come with having an infant.
❣️A PP doula is not just for first time parents! A transition to adding more kids to the family is difficult too. We can take care of baby while mom and siblings get some time together, or we can give the siblings additional support while learning about the new baby! We can teach the siblings how they can be involved with the newborn and be safe and gentle.
