More than 600 women are suing Chesapeake Regional Medical Center in connection to unnecessary and harmful gynecological surgeries performed by convicted former doctor Javaid Perwaiz, with the lawsuit now seeking more than $6 billion in damages.
The number of plaintiffs has grown by more than 100 women since the original filing last week, which included about 500 victims.

Perwaiz has been serving a 59-year federal prison sentence since 2021 for healthcare fraud tied to irreversible hysterectomies, improper sterilizations, and other medically unnecessary surgeries performed on hundreds of women at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.

Pregnancy reshapes nearly every system in the body, including hormones, metabolism, immune response, skeletal alignment, and cardiovascular function. These changes unfold gradually over nine months and do not reverse on a short timeline.

Neuroscience adds another layer, revealing measurable changes in brain structure related to empathy, emotional processing, and social bonding. These adaptations support caregiving but require time and rest to rebalance once pregnancy ends.

When society expects rapid recovery, many women internalize exhaustion, brain fog, or emotional shifts as personal failure rather than natural physiology. This misunderstanding often limits the support women receive during a deeply vulnerable period.

Recognizing postpartum recovery as a long, layered process invites compassion at both personal and societal levels. It reframes motherhood as a profound biological transition rather than a temporary interruption, reminding us that healing follows its own rhythm and deserves patience, care, and respect.

COMPETITION SCHEDULE

OPERATOR WILL SELECT, IN ITS SOLE, ABSOLUTE, AND COMPLETE DISCRETION, WHICH ENTRANTS WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE COMPETITION AS COMPETITORS. Upon entry, Competitors will be divided into groups and advance to the initial public voting round. Subsequent public voting rounds (individually a "Round" and, collectively, the “Rounds”) will progressively reduce the number of Competitors. Public voting begins October 13th, 2025.

Top 20 (begins October 13th and ends October 23rd) – Public voting will help reduce each group to the top twenty (20) Competitors in that group.
Top 15 (begins October 23rd and ends October 30th) – Public voting will help reduce each group to the top fifteen (15) Competitors in that group.
Top 10 (begins October 30th and ends November 6th) – Public voting will help reduce each group to the top ten (10) Competitors in that group.
Top 5 (begins November 6th and ends November 13th) – Public voting will help reduce each group to the top five (5) Competitors in that group.
Group Finals (begin November 13th and end November 20th) – Public voting will help reduce total Competitors to one (1) preliminary winner in each Group Finals group who will then advance to the Quarterfinals.
Wildcard Round (begins November 21st and ends November 23rd) – Competitors who took second (2nd) place in their respective Group Finals group will compete in a shortened round for a chance to advance to the Quarterfinals. Votes will be reset, and public voting will determine the top one (1) Competitor from each group who will then advance to the Quarterfinals.
Quarterfinals (begin November 24th and end December 4th) – The top Competitors from each Group Finals/Wildcard Round group will be divided into Quarterfinals groups. Votes will be reset, and public voting will determine the top one (1) Quarterfinalist from each group who will then advance to the Semifinals.
Semifinals (begin December 5th and end December 11th) – The top Competitors from each Quarterfinals group will be divided into Semifinals groups. Votes will be reset, and public voting will determine the top one (1) Semifinalist from each group who will then advance to the Finals.
Finals (begin December 12th and end December 18th) – Votes will be reset, and public voting will determine which Finalist will be the winner of the 2025 Fab Over 40 Competition (the “Grand Prize Winner”). The Grand Prize Winner will be announced on or before January 2nd, 2026.
