We were honored to celebrate our volunteers at the 2026 Influencer and Volunteer Celebration and to recognize our 2026 Glebe Influencer, Linda Fleshman!

For more than 20 years, Linda has quietly shaped life at The Glebe through kindness, service, and leadership. A retired kindergarten teacher with a 42‑year career, she brings the same care and dedication to organizing the library, serving on committees, and leading the community prayer chain. Known for her humility and willingness to help, Linda truly embodies the spirit of The Glebe.

A special thanks to all our volunteers at The Glebe, as well as the VBH Foundation, our spectacular culinary team, and event sponsors ColonialWebb, a CSUSA Company / Comfort Systems USA Shoffner.

Today we had the privilege of honoring a truly remarkable resident, Anne DaCosta, whose impact on our community has been nothing short of extraordinary. 💙

In the early years at The Glebe, Anne founded the Crafters Group—bringing residents together to create, learn, and support one another. What began as a small gathering has grown into a vibrant and meaningful part of our community life.

In 2009, Anne launched the Annual Fall Craft & Bake Sale to benefit The Glebe Benevolent Fund. What started as a simple idea has continued every single year—even through the pandemic—and now includes a Silent Auction. Thanks to Anne and the many talented crafters, this event has raised an incredible $49,845 to support residents in need.

Anne’s dedication, creativity (and yes—her famous fig jam!) have touched so many lives. Today, we celebrated her leadership, her vision, and the joy she has brought to others.

We also enjoyed looking back at the beautiful quilts and scrapbooks that tell the story of this special group and all they’ve accomplished together.

Please join us in thanking Anne and all of our crafters for making The Glebe such a caring, connected community. 👏

💜 We Pumped It for Parkinson’s! 💜

What an amazing day at The Glebe! Yesterday, 100 residents and 37 team members came together for our Pump It for Parkinson’s event—logging an incredible 712,856 steps.

From cardio in our fitness center, to water aerobics and group fitness, to a supportive group walk taking in our mountain views, our community showed there are so many fun ways to keep moving and support a great cause.

We’re so proud of everyone who participated and made every step count. 💪 Pump It for Parkinson's, NIFS

Resident Spotlight 🔦

Jim and Drew Everett, new residents of The Glebe hosted a full house with their program called, “Bats, Mosquitos, and Goats”. They were volunteer missionaries in Uganda for 20 years with Advancing the Ministries of the Gospel (AMG) living 4 months of the year there. Jim and Drew lived just like the nationals did, even living without electricity, which is common for about 95% of Uganda, to be able to build trust and have an effective ministry.

As the saying goes, “a picture is worth a thousand words” – and it was! They shared countless photos, uplifting (and some heartbreaking) stories, and experiences with so many resilient and amazing people they met along the way. They provided the residents with laughs, understanding of why the program was named that (so many bugs, animals, and snakes), and what life looks like that the nationals face on the daily. Thank you, Jim and Drew, for sharing your missions work with the community!
