The nursing leadership of Spurgeon Community had an "80's" outing on Friday! Dressed in their 80's outfits - that they provided for each other - they did a little team-bonding and then prepared gifts for the rest of the nursing team. ✨ Giving Tuesday at Spurgeon Senior Community ✨
Today, we join millions around the world in celebrating the joy of giving and the impact it makes right here at home.
This year, we are focusing our Giving Tuesday efforts on a critical piece of medical equipment: a new bladder scanner for our nursing team. Our current scanner has reached the end of its useful life, and replacing it is essential to providing safe, dignified, and compassionate care for our residents.
A new bladder scanner will allow our nurses to:
• Assess residents quickly and comfortably
• Prevent unnecessary catheter use and reduce infection risk
• Support timely clinical decisions
• Maintain the high standard of care our community depends on

We love visits from our neighbors at Kids Korner! Our young friends visited the Assisted Living last month, wearing their Halloween costumes for coloring and games. Abby Boyer, Assistant Director gets a hug from a special princess, her daughter Millie.

Kelsey Mulder, RN (center) received a gift card from Spurgeon Senior Community, presented by Staff Appreciation Committee members Bridget Huegrich (left) and Kasey Finnell (right). Spurgeon leadership submitted nominations for team members that demonstrated “positive engagement and creative solutions to challenges”. Others nominated for their positivity include: Kanwaljit Gill, Judy Erickson, Dena Goepferich, and Sophia Halifax! Thank you, ladies, we appreciate you and your positivity!!

We love visits from special friends - even the four legged kind. We are very thankful to those who share their furry friends with us. Alpacas Prima, Vegas, and Beignet visited Spurgeon Community, thanks to Luanne Sellner. Anita, volunteer at the AL, brought in Titan, the 38" Great Dane. Earlier in the year Lacey Baker from Mini Dreams Ranch brought in baby goats, Cam and Bertie, to visit the AL tenants.

Celebrating 10 YEARS!!
Tyler Hyde started at Spurgeon in September of 2015. He is now the Maintenance Supervisor - managing the day-to-day repairs and upkeep on the campus. This includes maintaining the property, all the buildings, and ensuring the completion of required audits & inspections. We are fortunate to have Tyler on the Spurgeon Team and appreciate EVERYTHING he does for the residents and staff.

Celebrating 40 Years at Spurgeon!!
Dena Goepferich has been a pillar at Spurgeon Manor for DECADES … literally! She started at Spurgeon in September of 1985. Over the years, she has seen renovations, additions, and new care levels added to the campus.
Dena started as a CNA, then become a CMA. Dena took over as Supervisor for the Housekeeping and Laundry Departments when Joanne Thomas retired. She assists the maintenance staff with scheduling of work assignments and repair requests, and also oversees OSHA and Life Safety compliance.
We are so fortunate to have Dena as a member of Team Spurgeon. She is truly loyal to the Spurgeon Community and lives our Mission Statement everyday – Caring with Respect and Dignity. We thank her for EVERYTHING she does – every single day.

Marlee Ohrtman has worked at Spurgeon Manor for over four years and recently passed the board of nursing test – to receive her LPN license!
