Dr. G the NP Dr. G creates content and hosts lectures to help aid nurses and nurse practitioners in gaining knowledge and confidence on cardiology topics.

Dr. G is also available for public speaking engagements. https://linktr.ee/drgthenp Tranise Goodlow is the founder and co-owner of Dr. G the NP, LLC. Dr. Goodlow, also known as Dr. G, is currently employed as a cardiology nurse practitioner and a graduate level adjunct professor. Her passion is teaching patients and nurses to build understanding and achieve best outcomes, as well as nurse and nurse practitioner advocacy. Dr. G obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Southern University and A&M College in 2010. She worked as a medical telemetry nurse for four years and also served as a charge nurse, preceptor, and mentor to her colleagues. During her time as a floor nurse, she discovered and developed an interest in cardiology. In 2014 Dr. G enrolled in the BSN-DNP, AGACNP program at the University of Arizona; she also worked as a nurse educator during her final year of graduate school. In 2017 Dr. G graduated from the University of Arizona with her DNP, AGACNP degree. Her doctoral research entitled “Provider Adherence to JNC 8 Pharmacological Guideline Recommendations in African American Adults Diagnosed with Hypertension” was awarded the Mary Opal Wolanin Outstanding Dissertation Award for Excellence in Nursing with Vulnerable Populations. Dr. G has the unique ability to simplify complex information which allows colleagues to build knowledge and confidence. Dr. G’s teaching style is engaging and allows reflection, while creating a safe and welcoming atmosphere for learners. Her ability to marry evidence-based practice and practical real-world situations allows learners to evolve within their practice.

Having trouble diagnosing Accelerated Junctional Rhythm?

Here is what to look for:

✅Typical regular rhythm
✅R pattern is relatively predictable
✅There is an inverted P wave before or after QRS
✅Inherent Rate of about 60-100 BPM
✅There are no identifiable P waves
✅It will be AV junction in origin
✅It will also have a narrow QRS complex

Having trouble diagnosing a 1st degree heart block? 😫
Here is what to look for:
✅ Atrial and ventricular rhythms are regular
✅ PR interval is greater than 0.20 seconds/200 milliseconds
✅ The PR interval is measured from the start of the P wave to the start of the QRS

Need help identifying parts of an EKG? Here is a quick overview of these! 🤩

P wave – electricity going down the atria

PR interval – the time it takes for the electrical signal to go from the SA node (top of the atria) to the bottom of the atria (AV junction)

QRS complex – ventricular depolarization; the time it takes for electricity to spread through the ventricles

T wave – ventricular repolarization; the ventricles resting/resetting so they can beat again)
