Food allergies are not a preference — they’re a matter of health and safety.
Living with a food allergy means every meal can carry risk. It’s not about being picky, dramatic, or difficult. Reactions can be severe, even life-threatening, and yet too many people with allergies — especially kids — face judgment, disbelief, or even bullying.
Here’s what everyone should understand:
- A food allergy is a medical condition, not a choice.
- Even trace amounts can cause a reaction.
- Respect and support save lives.
- Joking, doubting, or pressuring someone to “just eat it” is dangerous and cruel.
Bullying kids (or adults) with food allergies isn’t just unkind — it can be deadly. If you know someone with food allergies, take their needs seriously. Empathy and understanding go a long way.
Let’s change the conversation: from judgment to compassion, from disbelief to support.
