Tips in Taking Care of a Patient with Alzheimer’s
Caregiving is among the toughest careers in the healthcare industry. Caregivers in Dallas, Texas, and every other part of the world are faced with relatively the same challenges. Despite these, caregivers remain strong and committed to their responsibilities. Caregiving definitely is one of the noblest careers in health care.
Regardless of the condition of their patients, it seems like the weight of caregivers’ responsibilities remains the same. This is true, but not at all times. Say, for example, taking care of a patient with Alzheimer’s disease is not as simple as providing companion care.
Taking care of a patient with Alzheimer’s can be difficult, especially for family caregivers. Without proper training, this task is a lot more challenging.
On top of being well-informed, here are other things to take note of when it comes to taking care of a patient with Alzheimer’s disease:
a. Learn to communicate effectively.
Ask simple questions and state messages clearly to make it easier to understand for patients with Alzheimer’s.
b. Prioritize personalized care.
The patient should be the center of the whole care plan. Taking advantage of home healthcare services is a great way to achieve this.
c. Observe proper time management.
Taking care of patients with Alzheimer’s requires multitasking. Flexibility and effective time management are a must.
d. Take baby steps.
Because of their deteriorating functions, Alzheimer’s patients may not always be able to comprehend easily. Match their pace by taking small steps in achieving tasks.
e. Reassure.
Patients with Alzheimer’s often tend to feel confused and anxious at times. Make them feel comfortable by reassuring and showing them affection.
For Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, and senior care in Dallas, Texas, Dallas Texas Caregivers is the name you can trust.
Fall Prevention Guidelines for Seniors
Their frail condition makes seniors easy targets of accidents. This is usually caused by limited mobility and impaired physical functions. This is why they could greatly benefit from senior care in Dallas, Texas.
Accidents could happen anytime and anywhere. As unpredictable as they are, it’s impossible to prepare for these. Even the comfort of one’s abode is not entirely safe from accidents. Unfortunately, seniors are a lot more prone to accidents.
To help minimize the risk of accidents, having caregivers in Dallas, Texas as companions is an excellent idea. Through this, seniors would not only receive their needed skilled care, but they will also have a reliable companion who can keep an eye on them.
Companion care does not only provide assistance and supervision to patients, but this is also the best way to ensure the safety of patients at home. This gives peace of mind to families knowing that their senior loved ones are in good hands.
Other than relying on healthcare professionals from a caregiver agency, family members must also do their part to ensure safety in their abode. They must enforce safety measures to avoid accidents.
Among the accidents that happen at home, falls most commonly happen to seniors. This could be caused by different factors, ranging from medical conditions to environmental factors.
Although falls accidentally happen, it does not mean that these could not be prevented from happening. Below is a list of fall prevention guidelines.
a. Strengthen the bones and muscles through exercise.
b. Wear non-slip shoes and avoid wearing loose clothing.
c. Remove any tripping hazards.
d. Improve lighting.
e. Avoid using the stairs.
Dallas Texas Caregivers’ dedicated team will be working hand in hand with you to create a safer place for your loved ones.

Providing Post-Hospitalization Care for Seniors
Unlike what most people think, the hospital is not the safest place for your senior loved one. At times, your loved one is at risk of experiencing falls, injuries, and medication errors. All of which can be avoided with the help of reliable caregivers in Dallas, Texas.
Nearly one-fifth of seniors are re-hospitalized within 30 days of being discharged, according to data collected from millions of Medicare beneficiaries.
"Doctors tend to focus on the specific problems that bring a person into the hospital—not about what happens after," says Harlan Krumholz, M.D., professor of medicine and public health at Yale School of Medicine.
Upon discharge, we suggest you acquire immediate 24-hour senior care services from a professional provider like Dallas Texas Caregivers. We offer nothing but the safest and most effective care services available. This is to ensure that patients under our care get what they duly deserve and to help them live healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Tips to Provide Effective Post-Hospitalization Care
Dallas Texas Caregivers, your trusted friend and provider of reliable senior care in Dallas, Texas, commits to raising the quality of life of our clients through compassionate research-based in-home care.
As post-hospitalization complications are common for seniors, we urge home caregivers and live-in attendants to do the following to prevent serious injury and illness from happening.
1. Replenish your loved one’s reserves. Family caregivers in Dallas, Texas, should focus on restoring their loved one’s full strength, thus making sure seniors get their required food, vitamins, rest, medication, and relaxation.
2. Companion care providers must also familiarize themselves with the common risks and complications that may come with post-hospitalization. Keep your eyes on potential health problems, even if they appear to be unrelated to your loved one’s recent hospitalization.
3. Ease back into routine and other activities to avoid putting your loved one’s body into shock. Your loved ones may still be feeling a little weak and disoriented due to the stress of their operation or hospitalization. Break down their routine into easier and more achievable steps.
Our agency takes post-hospitalization care very seriously, and we encourage our partners and clients to do the same.

We were founded by nurses who believe in the preventative care of patients. Our nurse owners have more than 40 years of combined experience as nurses, and over a decade of working hand in hand with home health patients. During their career, our founders noticed that the frail elderly were especially vulnerable to preventable hospitalizations, due to falls and other preventable accidents that landed many elderly clients in the hospital.
When an elderly person falls and fractures a hip or femur or elbow, it takes a tremendously long time for the bones to heal, due to age and other factors. In addition, many surgeons and doctors are hesitant to put these clients under anesthesia for general orthopedic surgery to repair the fractures. Simply put, a fall in a frail elderly person is probably a death sentence to them. They rarely recover successfully from this and that is why its important to prevent these accidents from happening in the first place. Vigilant children and families of the elderly are therefore duty bound to help where necessary by arranging for supportive help during the sunset years of their parents and grandparents.
It is with this mission in mind, that our agency was founded.
Prevention is better than cure. Better to prevent the accidents and mishaps from taking place, through proactively meeting the needs of the frail elderly clients. Many elderly clients want to age in place at home, but Medicare and private insurances are limited in their scope of service provisions. In fact, due to the looming deluge of aging baby boomers, Medicare has made it even more difficult for seniors to qualify for and receive the care they need because the government simply cannot afford it.
We are here to help. We are here to provide a peace of mind to the families of the frail elderly who want to age in place at home or their residences. We have a thorough vetting process for our employees and caregivers, from national background checks, drug screening and non-employability database screens, we also provide continuous education to keep their skills sharpened and up to date with current standards. We are licensed, insured, and bonded to give that peace of mind.
