Meet Carlos Barcenas, Velocity Clinical Trial Participant
Carlos Barcenas is a Velocity Clinical Research COVID-19 vaccine trial participant in Grand Island, NE who has also joined our Participant Advisory Committee (PAC). With his fellow PAC members, Carlos provides invaluable feedback on the clinical research process - commenting on what works, what can be improved, and giving insight into what it’s like participating in a clinical trial today.
Outside of his participation on the PAC and in a COVID-19 vaccine trial, Carlos is a champion of diversity and inclusion for all, serving as a communication conduit, a cultural broker, and community advocate for those in Grand Island and the whole state of Nebraska. He founded his own company, I Choose Purple, to offer not only language and translation services, but intercultural awareness and competence facilitating and training, as well as public speaking engagements.
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Carlos worked tirelessly to ensure that immigrant populations in Grand Island were fairly represented in vaccine clinical trials by holding education sessions and sharing his story with his community.
This Hispanic Heritage Month, we honor and recognize Carlos and those like him who see a need for better representation and work hard to improve on it. Thank you, Carlos, for sharing your stories and insights with us, and for doing your part to advance medicine to benefit everyone.

Velocity Supports the Ride4DEI $79000 Plus Raised 2.mp4
The ACRP - Association of Clinical Research Professionals Ride4DEI raised $79,375 to promote educational opportunities for underserved populations in the clinical research workforce! As a breakaway sponsor of this year’s ride, Velocity supported the fundraiser not only with funds, but with moral support from our employees around the globe — including our world-class technology team in India, which is pictured below sporting our Ride4DEI buttons.
Thanks to all who donated to this worthy cause. We can’t wait to see the impact this has on advancing DEI in clinical research. #Diversity #ClinicalTrials
