“When I looked at her, her clothes were shredded all down the midline, so I realized that something different had taken place, and I heard somebody say she got hit by lightning. The color of her face was white, gray, blue.
And I looked at her and it was almost like in my head the image of the manikin I do RQI training on, it just blended in, and I knew where to put my hands. I knew how to do CPR. I’ve been in the medical field for 25 years and I’ve never done it before on a human, and I just knew how to function, so I just did compressions on her.”
Before one Saturday afternoon certified surgical technologist, Andrea Rogers, had only ever practiced CPR in a training capacity. Little did she know that her years of experience and RQI-honed CPR skills would save the life of a young woman who was struck by lightning.
