Most people think magnesium is only about sleep.
But it has a much bigger role in the body than that … and yes, that includes oral health too.

Magnesium matters for mineral balance, nervous system regulation, inflammation, muscle tension, jaw discomfort, blood sugar support, and even cavity risk. When the body is depleted, it can show up in more ways than people realize.

This is exactly why I always say oral health is never just about brushing your teeth. You have to look at the full picture.

If you deal with clenching, TMJ tension, poor sleep, high stress, frequent headaches, or ongoing dental issues, it may be worth looking deeper at what your body is missing.

Most people think cavities are just about eating too much sugar.

But one of the most overlooked reasons people keep getting cavities… is that their mouth never gets a chance to recover.

Did you know that getting fillings at a really young age can leave a tooth at risk of not lasting a lifetime? 🦷⏳

I believe dentistry should focus on prevention and long-term health, not just quick fixes. When a tooth needs work too early, it often starts a cycle of repairs that may shorten its lifespan.

Your smile deserves care that lasts!

A holistic dentist looks for the source, not just the symptom.

Yes, the symptom matters, but I also want to know why it’s happening in the first place.

Is it mouth breathing?
Poor sleep?
Diet?
Stress?
Bacterial imbalance?
Airway issues?
Inflammation?

I’m not just looking at one tooth. I’m looking at the patterns behind what’s showing up in the mouth.

If you want the real, root-cause truth about what your mouth is trying to say…

Dentistry has lost a lot of people’s trust. And honestly… can you blame them?

Too many patients have experienced rushed appointments, fear-based treatment plans, unnecessary procedures, and a system that focuses more on quick fixes than true healing. When that keeps happening, people stop feeling safe in the chair.

That is not how dentistry should feel.

Patients deserve transparency. They deserve honest conversations, thoughtful care, and treatment that looks at the whole person, not just the tooth. No pressure. No inflated plans. No ignoring the root cause.

The profession has to do better. And that change starts with dentists who are willing to question the norm, slow down, and put patient health first.

”Bad breath is not always a brushing problem.

You can brush twice a day, floss, use mouthwash… and still deal with bad breath if the real issue is something deeper.

This is why I always say bad breath is a clue. Not just something to cover up.

Mints and mouthwash may temporarily mask it… but they don’t fix the root cause.

If you’re constantly dealing with bad breath, your body may be trying to tell you something.

Which one surprised you most?

This is exactly why I’m so careful with mouthwash. A lot of conventional options seem “fresh” and “clean,” but when you actually look at the label, the story can be very different.

Your oral care products should support the mouth instead of disrupting it.

Have you ever checked the ingredients in your mouthwash? 👀

Your mouth often shows signs of health issues before the rest of your body does.

As a dentist, these are some of the signals I look for first.

Bleeding gums can point to inflammation in the body.
Dry mouth may be linked to dehydration or certain medications.
Persistent bad breath often signals a bacterial imbalance.
Jaw pain can be connected to stress, clenching, or airway issues.
And worn-down teeth frequently reveal nighttime grinding.

Your mouth isn’t separate from the rest of your health.

It’s a window into what’s happening in your body.

Pay attention to the signals. Your mouth might be trying to tell you something. 🦷

As a holistic dentist, there are certain products I simply don’t use anymore.

Not because they’re trendy to avoid, but because I’ve seen what they can do to the mouth over time.

When you support the natural ecosystem in your mouth, your teeth, gums, and overall health benefit.

Save this for the next time you’re standing in the toothpaste aisle. 🪥

What no one tells you about sealants on kids’ teeth…

Yes, studies show they can prevent cavities... but only for the first 5 years. After that, they start breaking down, trapping bacteria, and hiding cavities underneath.

That’s why I no longer place them in my practice, because long-term health matters more than quick fixes.

Your child’s mouth tells a story.

Snoring.
Mouth breathing.
Early crowding.
Grinding.
Restless sleep.

These aren’t random.

Oral development affects airway health.
Airway health affects sleep.
Sleep affects behavior, focus, growth, and overall wellness.

Holistic dentistry isn’t just about teeth, it’s about development.

And the earlier you look, the more you can guide growth naturally.

Save this if you’re raising a little one 🦷
