Today as I walked for my health, I consciously detoured off the pathway to experience joy. I wove and danced through a cluster of trees, twirled with excitement and skipped for fun because I can. I felt the joy of a child. I didn’t care who saw me - I just wanted to be free!

Even when you know your purpose and are focused on your path - sometimes you gotta find a childlike moment. I teach two year olds and watching them move with ease and without hesitation is a lesson we all need to remember.

While I did endured and survived a Breast Cancer diagnosis, as time goes by it no longer identifies me. I find strength in building health I no longer worry about what if because I consciously make choices to distance myself from my diagnosis and while I realize there’s no guarantee, I find comfort in this.

We are all champions in our own way. I choose to express my strength through the sport of Dragon Boating.

The words written on this post was just a small portion of the inspirational speech that our coach spoke over our team at the world championship. I think it’s important to acknowledge the history in breast cancer in my life, but to not let it define me.

Consistant moderate/vigorous exercise has shown to reduce the risk of recurrence up to 69%. ACA recommends 150-300 mins of exercise a week to include strength training.

This is just one piece of the puzzle, but I choose to empower my body, strengthen my immune system, reduce my stress load and help maintain a healthy weight through exercise.

Even four years later, I still get all the feels. This was the building where I started my journey. This was the building that I made the decision to have a bi-lateral mastectomy. This is the building I went through 16 weeks of chemo and 35 rounds of radiation. Buy this is also the building where I decided I was worth more and deserved a better life. This is the building where I started to question how all these treatments and poisons would HEAL me. The reality was it can’t. Which is why I turned to holistic practices and functional oncology.

I am thankful for all that happened here, and today I am continuing to follow up on a cyst that has been following me on my pancreas. I’ve asked for NO contrast and believe that there will be no change and that it will finally be dissolved.

But as I prepared for this MRI, scanxiety always creeps in. My best defense? 4-7-8 breathing. This is an incredible way to reduce anxiety and calm yourself anytime any where 😮‍💨

Forced menopause was a rude awakening at age 47. I had been experiencing perimenopause for several years, but I was not ready for full blown menopause 🥵

The kicker was a lot of the traditional ways of helping relieve the symptoms of menopause simply were not an option. Working with a functional medicine oncologist was a life saver for me. Obviously this is not medical advice, I’m just sharing what has worked for me 🥰
