While I did endured and survived a Breast Cancer diagnosis, as time goes by it no longer identifies me. I find strength in building health I no longer worry about what if because I consciously make choices to distance myself from my diagnosis and while I realize there’s no guarantee, I find comfort in this.
We are all champions in our own way. I choose to express my strength through the sport of Dragon Boating.
The words written on this post was just a small portion of the inspirational speech that our coach spoke over our team at the world championship. I think it’s important to acknowledge the history in breast cancer in my life, but to not let it define me.
Consistant moderate/vigorous exercise has shown to reduce the risk of recurrence up to 69%. ACA recommends 150-300 mins of exercise a week to include strength training.
This is just one piece of the puzzle, but I choose to empower my body, strengthen my immune system, reduce my stress load and help maintain a healthy weight through exercise.
