We are closed this Monday in observance of Memorial Day. On this day we remember the heroes who have given their lives in service to our country.
Today is National #BrothersDay. Brother's Day on May 24th honors the brothers in our lives. Whether we have one or many, they hold a special place in our hearts.
Every mother is amazing. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms everywhere! #happymothersday
Between work, virtual learning, and keeping up with loved ones, the past year has meant more screen time for many of us — and that can lead to eye strain. So give those eyes a rest with the 20/20/20 trick! #HealthyVisionMonth
In recognition of #EarthDay2022, we hope everyone takes a moment to appreciate our planet today!
Each year, an estimated 100,000 people are hurt by sports-related eye injuries. About 13,500 of these injuries result in permanent vision loss.

In support of Sports Eye Safety Month this April, the American Academy of Ophthalmology reminds athletes everywhere that the great majority of sports-related eye injuries can be avoided by simply wearing the proper protection.
We are excited to announce the brand expansion of Barton Perreira.

Barton Perreira meticulously crafts their frames by hand in Japan, with a single pair taking weeks to refine. Each pair of eyewear is brought to life with precision and virtuosity. Barton Perreria offers a weightless fit, hand-painted accents, and premium hand-dipped lenses.

We invite you to stop by and experience the craftsmanship behind Barton Perreira. Learn more about Barton Perreira at bartonperreira.com.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
Each year, nearly 25,000 Americans visit the emergency room due to a workplace eye injury. During Workplace Eye Wellness Month this March, the American Academy of Ophthalmology reminds employers and workers about the importance of wearing certified and approved eye protection.
A very #HappyValentinesDay to our teammates, patients, neighbors, friends and family! Have a lovely day!
February is national age related macular degeneration (AMD) and low vision awareness month. AMD is the leading cause of low vision and blindness in Americans age 60 years and older and affects 1.6 million Americans. AMD is a progressive disease with no known cure. It slowly steals vision as it affects the retina, a paper-thin tissue lining the back of the eye, and causes the cells in the area to die. As a result, if you have AMD, you see blind spots, grayness and other distortions in the center frame of your vision.

AMD symptoms include blurriness, wavy lines, or a blind spot. You may also notice visual distortions such as:

- Straight lines or faces appearing wavy
- Doorways seeming crooked
- Objects appearing smaller or farther away

If you notice any of these symptoms, schedule an eye exam as soon as possible.
We can't believe January is almost over. But don't forget that this month is #GlaucomaAwarenessMonth

Glaucoma is an eye disease that gradually steals vision. There are typically no early warning signs or painful symptoms of open-angle glaucoma. It develops slowly and sometimes without noticeable sight loss for many years. Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness.

Are you at risk for glaucoma? Those at higher risk include people of African, Asian, and Hispanic descent. Other high-risk groups include: people over 60, family members of those already diagnosed, diabetics, and people who are severely nearsighted.

Regular eye exams are especially important for those at higher risk for glaucoma, and may help to prevent unnecessary vision loss.

'Tis the season for resolutions. And here's an easy one: keep in mind these foods that support your vision health. Put these on your plate from time to time and keep your health in focus.

Raw Red Peppers: Bell peppers give you the most vitamin C per calorie. That's good for the blood vessels in your eyes, and science suggests it could lower your risk of getting cataracts.

Sunflower Seeds and Nuts: An ounce of these seeds or almonds has half the amount of vitamin E the USDA recommends for adults each day. A large study found that vitamin E, together with other nutrients, can help slow age-related macular degeneration (AMD) from getting worse.

Dark, Leafy Greens: Kale, spinach, and collard greens, for example, are rich in both vitamins C and E. They also have the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin. These plant-based forms of vitamin A lower your risk of long-term eye diseases, including AMD and cataracts.

Salmon: Your retinas need two types of omega-3 fatty acids to work right: DHA and EPA. You can find both in fatty fish, such as salmon, tuna, and trout, as well as other seafood.

November is Diabetic Eye Disease Awareness Month.

People with diabetes are more likely to develop blinding eye diseases, such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and cataracts. Yet recent studies have revealed low awareness of the issue among many people at higher risk for diabetes. With the findings signaling that many Americans may not be defending themselves against diabetes-related vision loss, the American Academy of Ophthalmology encourages those with diabetes to take proactive steps to protect their vision.

Your vision and health have never been more important! Schedule an eye exam today.
