Do you have an updated medication list?

Even for patients who see us regularly, updating your current medications, including over-the-counter medications and supplements, is an important part of your visit. You should know the name of each medication you take, its dosage and frequency, and the reason for taking it.

Before you come in for your next appointment, create a list of all the medications you're taking. Write them down or take a picture of each label with your phone!

Each year there are more fatalities from “excessive heat events” — or heat waves — than from hurricanes, lightning, tornadoes, floods, and earthquakes combined.

While anyone can be adversely affected by excessive heat, older adults are particularly vulnerable. Be sure to check on family, friends, and neighbors who do not have air conditioning and those who spend much of their time alone.

CPR that combines chest compressions and breaths provides a cardiac arrest victim with additional oxygen to circulate throughout their body. A cardiac victim’s survival depends on immediately receiving CPR from someone nearby.

Do you know the signs and symptoms of a stroke?

Call 9-1-1 right away if you spot these 5 symptoms of stroke in yourself or someone else:
F—Face: Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?
A—Arms: Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?
S—Speech: Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is their speech slurred?
T—Time: If you see any of these signs, call 9-1-1 right away.
