Nobody talks enough about how intense those first few days of breastfeeding can feel 🤍

You may notice your breasts feel hard, heavy, or extra full — this is often a sign that your milk is coming in. As milk volume and blood flow increase, temporary engorgement can occur. While uncomfortable, this is common, normal, and usually improves as feeding routines become more established.

✨ What can help?
• Feed frequently
• Use a warm compress before feeding
• Apply a cold compress after feeding

If discomfort doesn’t improve or you’re experiencing other breastfeeding challenges, please reach out. Our midwives and on-site lactation consultants are here to support you through every step of your feeding journey 🤍

Things you’ll thank yourself for packing later! 🤍

These are just a few essentials that make recovery feel a little more comfortable and a lot less overwhelming.

Share some of your postpartum favorites below to help another mama who may need it! ✨

How about all of the above!

Every feeding journey looks different, and the truth is there’s no one-size-fits-all checklist. Sometimes you need the right fl**ge size, sometimes it’s latch support, sometimes it’s simply reassurance that you’re doing better than you think.

Our Lactation Consultant Amanda is here to help guide you through the questions, the learning curve, and everything in between — so you can feel supported and confident in your feeding journey. Schedule a visit with her today. ✨

Just because you're giving birth in a hospital, doesn't mean it can't feel like your space.

Bringing small comforts like dim lighting, your favorite music or your favorite people, can all help you feel more confident and empowered to bring your baby into this world.

If you have questions about what is allowed at the hospital, you can ask your midwife during your next visit and she can help you prepare!

The moment everything changes. There’s nothing quite like that first look… the relief, the love, the overwhelming joy all at once. 🤍

Let’s clear up a common misconception-

Routine episiotomies are no longer considered standard practice in modern birth care. While they were more common years ago, research has shown that they are not routinely necessary and are now only used in specific situations when medically indicated.

Today, the focus is on supporting the body’s natural stretching and using evidence-based approaches to reduce the need for intervention whenever possible. Every birth is unique, and our goal as your birth care team is to make decisions based on what’s safest and most supportive in the moment. ✨

We often get asked about the difference between a Birth Center Tour and The Midwife Connection, so we wanted to clarify:

Tours of Fort Worth Birthing Center are hosted weekly and are for families who are considering or planning a birth center birth. On the other hand, The Midwife Connection, is a monthly event for families planning a hospital birth with Midwife+Co.

Two different experiences, two different birth settings — both designed to help you feel informed, supported, and confident in choosing the path that’s right for you! 🤍

The Midwife Connection is hosted on the 4th Thursday of each month at Midwife+Co Fort Worth - no registration required! To schedule a tour of FWBC, you can visit the link below.
