Missing your period can feel like a mini vacation… until it’s not. This is called amenorrhea—fancy talk for a missed period.
Two types:
Primary: never started by 16
Secondary: missing 3+ cycles after you’ve already started
Step 1: Pregnancy check
If you’re s*xually active and your period’s AWOL, take a test. Negative? Stress, illness, or life changes could be messing with your cycle. Still missing 3+ months? Time to see your GYN.
Step 2: GYN visit
Come see us. We will ask about your cycle, health, meds, diet, exercise, and more. Hormonal contraceptives like the pill, patch, ring, IUD, or Nexplanon can cause missed periods—totally normal.
Step 3: Dig a little deeper
If it’s not pregnancy or contraception, we may check for:
•PCOS
•Thyroid issues
•Eating disorders
•Pituitary problems
•Uterine scarring
•Other meds
💡 Pro tip: Track your cycle! Knowing what’s “normal” helps you spot when something’s off and makes those GYN visits way easier.
