Glad to hear Shoulder Blade got some help!

Unfortunately, shoulder/shoulder blade instability is a very common cause of shoulder pain. If you have shoulder pain, rotator cuff problems, shoulder impingement, upper trap pain, shoulder bursitis, etc., an unstable shoulder is usually part of the problem. Pain is just the end result of shoulder/shoulder blade instability.

The shoulder girdle consists of the collar bone (clavicle) and shoulder blade (scapula). This shoulder girdle is what stabilizes your arm when it moves. In order for the shoulder/arm to move many muscles have to work in synchrony. If not, a component of this system will have to take additional stress. This will result in wear and tear, pain, inflammation, and unfortunately, permanent irreversible damage.

A thorough PT evaluation will determine asymmetries in alignment and soft tissue, muscle weaknesses and imbalance, joint and soft tissue integrity and more. We do many tests to determine what muscles and structures are involved.

My name is Wendy Keenan, and I am a PT. I have over 15 years of experience and I am happy to answer any questions.

If you are experiencing any type of shoulder pain, ask your doctor for a PT evaluation.

I have been a PT for 15 years.... whew that's a long time😄

And by now I can predict what kind of pain my patients are having just by looking at them. (I am not staring at you, I am assessing you😆)

Yes, this is what I was trained to do but most humans will end up having the same pain patterns!

Why? Because of gravity (and poor habits) and because it is easier to let gravity pull us down then to fight it. So, we all end up with the same MUSCLE IMBALANCES and joint stresses. Both, cause degeneration and wear and tear which results in PAIN. This is your body asking for help.

My job is to identify these imbalances and stresses to decrease and prevent PAIN. Not only that, to prevent permanent degeneration, damage and future injuries.

People say they don't have the time and money for physical therapy. Have you seen a how much spine surgery, hip and knee replacements, and rotator cuff repairs costs😳

Not to mention, the time that it takes to recover from this surgeries!

Take care of yourself! You and your body deserve it!

Ahh, that poor piriformis always taking the blame😞😁

No one talks about how hard the piriformis is working and how all it is trying to do is help... yes it is the cause of pain BUT only because it is tired!! (I hear ya piriformis)

The piriformis is a compensatory muscle. It is a tiny little muscle that lives deep in your... butt. This little muscle will become overactive when your gluteal muscles are being lazy and not doing their job. The gluteal muscles (glut max, medius and minimus) are some of our biggest and strongest muscles in our body yet they are usually weak and dormant. This is usually due to poor pelvic and hip posture or bad habits, to put it simply. So just imagine how much work this little muscle is trying to do!

One of my favorite things to do is help my clients find their glutes. I do this by using corrective exercises and postural restoration, where I teach you to ACTIVATE (turn on) the dormant muscles and INHIBIT (turn off) overactive muscles like our hard working piriformis!!

Oh and it is so exciting when you do!!

Do you have a pain in the BUTT?
How about back, hip or knee pain??

If so you may have a case of "Dormant Buttock Syndrome"? ( Did not make it up I promise, Google it😆)

If you think you may have a case of "Dormant Buttock Syndrome" I can help you wake up your glutes

STORY TIME!!

The idea of offering in-home visits started a few years ago. During the pandemic, I had the opportunity to work with a few clients in the privacy and comfort of their own home and realized how convenient this was for them and how much I enjoyed it. It was so great to offer this option to people who would otherwise not seek Physical Therapy due to not having the time to do so. Every single one of my clients was so appreciative that they could have a personal physical therapist come to their home, evaluate and treat them much faster than if they would have waited to be seen in a clinic. Not only that, they all got better faster!!

One of success stories is of a very talented soccer player who needed treatment ASAP for a severe muscle injury he sustained during a tournament in Europe. Immediately after his return, I was able to do a thorough assessment and determine what was needed to help heal his injury and get him back to playing his favorite sport. His parents were so grateful that he got the help he needed. Injuries like these can be detrimental to an athlete and if not treated on a timely manner the injury can become chronic, which means a longer recovery time and longer return to sport time. After working with him and his team (ortho MD., AT, and coach) he was able to return to playing within a few weeks. He is now playing in Europe following his dream. (Read his experience on ptwxtx.com)

If you want to be one of my success stories this is your chance. Book your 1st appointment for the months of February or March and you will get 20% off !! Not only that, you will also have the opportunity to buy a package of 4 or more visits with the same discount!!

I am so excited to begin this journey and be that healthcare provider the community trusts. I want to be there for you and your family to help with all your PT needs.

If you would like a free consult don't hesitate to contact me via phone, text, or messenger.
