Sparky continues the NASCAR fun! 🏎️

Join us Saturday, August 23, at the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona Speedway with Joey Gase Motorsports in #44!

The race airs on NBC and Peacock at 7:30 PM EST.

Look for this year’s theme, “Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home,” on car #44 as it charges around the track.

From phones and laptops to e-bikes and power tools, rechargeable batteries are everywhere, and if not used correctly, can be a fire risk. Stay on track and charge devices on a hard surface and unplug when they’re fully charged.

Sparklers may seem harmless, but they burn at 1,200°F hotter than glass melts or bake a cake and cause nearly a third of fireworks injuries in kids under 5. This July 4th, let’s choose safer ways to celebrate and keep the day fun for everyone.

I have had a lot of questions about fire blankets for kitchen use as opposed to fire extinguishers. There are a lot of different opinions, facts, research, and techniques with each. There is one glaring fact that cannot be overlooked, and that is fire extinguishers are UL (underwriters laboratories- a not for profit safety testing lab) listed, meaning extinguishers have gone through rigorous testing to ensure safety. There is NO fire blanket currently on the market that is UL listed. This being a BIG red flag, I cannot endorse a fire blanket. Extinguishers have a long successful track record and are UL safety tested and listed. Now you know.....

ALERRT, short for Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training, is a training program for law enforcement and civilians on active shooter response and safety. It's a national standard for active shooter training, adopted by numerous law enforcement agencies and the FBI.
Since 2002, ALERRT has successfully delivered training across the nation with more than $136 million in federal and state funding. More than 303,928 state, local, and tribal first responders (over 246,129 law enforcement) have received ALERRT training, all at no cost to the first responders or agencies.
The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office has trained 285 law enforcement officers from 54 agencies and has sponsored 16 ALERRT classes from January 1, 2024, to the present.

Just a reminder, Kaufman County issues voluntary "burn permits" we simply ask that if you are in an unincorporated area of the county you call the fire marshal's office at 469-376-4122 to check the status of the burn ban and then log the burn at the link below. If you live inside of a city limits check with the city hall about burn regulations for the city.
