Trauma is often misunderstood. Little 't' trauma often gets overlooked or rationalized. The effects of little 't' can accumulate over time which can lead to significant distress and trouble with emotional functioning.
Even just one Big "t" event can lead to severe distress and can interfere with day to day functioning. Below are just some examples of traumatic events that are considered Big and Little.
Trauma and substance abuse are strongly linked together and are often used as a person's attempt to cope with the effects of their trauma.

We are looking to add a therapist to our rapidly growing and very busy practice in North Dallas .We are looking for a clinician who can commit to part-time or PRN with opportunity to go full-time; Is familiar with treatment for substance use disorders, bonus if EMDR trained or certified; Is willing to conduct group therapy as well as individual and/or family sessions; Is committed to therapeutic work that is anti-racist and LGBTQ+ affirming; and who wants to be a part of a quickly growing supportive and inclusive work community. LMSW Supervision will be included.
