Cupping therapy is one of the most effective soft tissue treatments we offer at Moseley Chiropractic. But it’s also one of the most misunderstood. Mostly because of those circles it leaves behind.

The reason your back keeps going out has nothing to do with your back. 👇🏾

I know that sounds strange but hear me out.

Your back isn’t the problem. It’s taking the punishment for everything else that isn’t doing its job.

Here’s what’s actually happening:

1️⃣ Your hips are weak - when your hips can’t control movement, your lower back picks up the slack on every rep, every step, every day.

2️⃣ Your core isn’t firing - not talking about crunches. The deep stabilizing muscles that are supposed to protect your spine are off. So your back muscles overwork and eventually give out.

3️⃣ Old injuries never fully healed - they left movement compensations behind, and your body has been quietly covering for them ever since.

If you’ve been training hard but stuck at a plateau, your spine might be the reason. 👇🏾

Most athletes never think about spinal alignment when their performance stalls. But here’s the truth, when your lumbar spine is misaligned or your thoracic spine is restricted, your nervous system can’t properly activate your prime movers.

You end up compensating. Using the wrong muscles. Leaking force on every rep. And eventually getting injured.

Here’s what that looks like in real life:

1️⃣ Lumbar instability — your glutes and core can’t fire at full capacity. Your body recruits secondary muscles instead, reducing power output and increasing injury risk.

2️⃣ Thoracic restriction — limited upper back rotation forces your lumbar spine to compensate on every rotational movement. That’s where injuries happen.
