When Ashley learned during pregnancy that her baby’s heart wasn’t developing normally, she and her husband, Trevor, were suddenly facing a diagnosis most families never encounter – and one that only a handful of hospitals can treat.

That’s when the team at Children's Medical Center Plano stepped in. From advanced fetal heart care to specialized cardiac procedures in Preston’s first week of life, and a complex, high-risk surgery at just 20 days old, his journey was anything but typical.

Today, Preston is a thriving, happy, healthy 8‑month‑old with normal circulation, strong oxygen levels and a contagious smile.

See what’s possible when families are supported at every step and children have access to the most advanced heart care available, including surgery for a dysplastic tricuspid valve: https://bit.ly/4rmcqmi

We loved celebrating Heart Month and Congenital Heart Week at The Heart Center! ❤️ This month, we recognized our devoted Camp Moss team members, showcased a beautiful t‑shirt design by patient artist Jariyah for the Hearts and Heroes Picnic and came together with the Heart Center Family Advisory Council and Mended Little Hearts of Dallas for our annual “Treats from the Heart.” Our hearts are full after such a meaningful and memorable month. 💕

Courtmon was born with pulmonary hypertension, a serious condition that can lead to life-threatening complications like heart failure. His local neonatologist quickly transferred him to the Pulmonary Hypertension Program at Children’s Health for specialized care.

A dedicated team worked around the clock to create a treatment plan just for him. Three months later, right before Christmas, Courtmon was finally able to go home.

Today, he’s a joyful one-year-old, crawling, eating solid foods and saying “mama” and “dada.” Learn about Courtmon’s journey: https://bit.ly/4r1s866

From Cardiac ICU patient to Heart Center team member ❤️

In 1990, Erin was a 9-month-old patient in our Cardiac ICU, born with Tetralogy of Fallot. After seven open-heart surgeries, her care team became lifelong supporters – there for her not only in the ICU but also at her father, Grand Prairie Police Sergeant Greg Hunter’s funeral, her nurse pinning ceremony and her wedding.

Today, Erin carries that legacy forward as a Heart Center team member and advocate for heart families everywhere.

Sarah, a phlebotomist at Children’s Medical Center Plano, made a life-changing difference with one simple decision. Five years after joining a blood stem cell and bone marrow donor registry, she learned she was a match for Santiago, a leukemia patient at Texas Children's Hospital.

When Sarah met Santiago’s family, their gratitude was immediate and heartfelt. Today, Santiago is full of life and thriving. Sarah's donation is a powerful reminder that one choice today can help create a brighter future for someone tomorrow.
