Today is our Cemetery Clean Up Day! We are conducting a Spring Cleaning of our cemetery, and we are picking up all decorations and putting them in bags. The bags will be on the side of the mausoleum with loved ones' names on them.

Starting today, only artificial flowers in cemetery-approved vases and fresh flowers (in a cemetery approved vase or not) are allowed in the cemetery until November 2.

This rule is in place so that our cemetery staff can safely mow and maintain the cemetery grounds. Decorations have the tendency to get caught in our mower which causes our mowing schedule to get pushed back and the grounds to become overgrown. And as mentioned this is in place to keep our staff safe from broken items, ricocheting landscaping rocks, and more.

We appreciate your understanding of this rule!

Please use this weekend to pick up cemetery decorations from loved ones' grave spaces! Starting on Monday, April 28, 2025, Crown Hill Memorial Park cemetery staff will begin collecting and bagging cemetery decorations for disposal.

The only items that will be allowed starting April 28, 2025 until November 2, 2025 will be artificial flowers in cemetery-approved vases or fresh flowers (which may or may not be in cemetery approved vases).

This is so that our staff can safely mow and tend to Crown Hill Memorial Park without risk of injury or equipment malfunctions.
Violators will not be given a warning- the cemetery staff will automatically take the decorations down and dispose of them.

Starting on April 28, our cemetery team will begin collecting and bagging items that have been left on graves during the non-mowing months. If you would like to keep the items you have put on a loved one's gravesite, please make time to collect your items BEFORE April 28.

After April 28, the only items that will be allowed at gravesites are fresh flowers (can be on gravesite or in a cemetery-approved vase) or artificial flowers, solar lights, or other decorations that are held in a cemetery-approved vase. Decorations (other than fresh flowers) are not allowed anywhere on the gravesite unless they are in a cemetery-approved vase.

We will NOT allow any other items on the gravesite including the following:
- Solar lights
- Landscaping rocks
- Fences
- Toys
- Figurines
- Signs
- Statues
- Temporary grave markers (like wooden crosses)
- Artificial flowers that are not in a cemetery-approved vase
- Wind catchers
- Garden decorations
- Etc.

The reason we are asking families to clean up their spaces is that we are entering our mowing season. Decorations are very susceptible to getting caught up in our riding lawnmowers which then cause our riding lawnmowers to become damaged. If we have a damaged mower, then we have to take it to a shop to get fixed. It can take days (if not a couple of weeks) for the shop to allow us to pick it up. That means that our mowing schedule gets pushed back multiple days. When our mowing schedule gets pushed back, we are not able to keep up with cutting our grass down to acceptable levels. We then get very angry calls from families because our cemetery looks overgrown...all because a decoration damaged our mower.

We are allowing families to leave items up until 1 week after Easter, but after that, we ask that no other decorations be placed on gravesites until November 1st. We truly do like the decorations and the way that families can honor their loved ones in such a personal way, but we also like having a cemetery that is safe for our team members (having landscaping rocks ricocheting off a mower blade is not fun!) and tidy and well-landscaped for our families during the mowing months.

If you have any questions, please reach out to us. We are happy to assist you and answer any questions or concerns you have.

Thank you for taking the time to read, and again, please have items picked up by April 28, 2025!

🪦It's time to clean up the cemetery for mowing season!🌾
During mowing season, we need all decorations (other than flowers in cemetery-approved vases) removed from all gravesites so that decorations do not get caught in our new lawn mower.

Here are some reasons why it is SO important to pick up the decorations:
1. We don't want our staff members to be hurt by debris coming from the mower. Metal or porcelain shards flying from a mower... no thank you. 🤕
2. If our mowers run over decorations (especially small or metal decorations), it could lead to our mower breaking down. No mower = taller grass.🌾
3. If we have to mow around decorations, our staff members will be out in the summer heat longer to get around decorations without damaging things. The safety and health of our staff are very important, and we don't want them to have heat-related illnesses or injuries. 🥵
4. Reflective decorations can lead to fires. Intense sunlight going through some decorations could lead to fires in the cemetery. As far as we know, flowers in cemetery-approved vases have never caused fires. 🔥

We will allow families to pick up decorations this week. Any damaged or sun-bleached items will disposed of. All other decorations will be put in trash bags at the grave sites of loved ones. After 1 week, the trashbags will be thrown away. We are doing 1 section of the cemetery at a time.

For those who love cemetery decorations, we will be allowing families to place decorations back on the grave sites on November 2 each year for the winter holiday season.

If you have questions, please let us know. We are here for our families and our community!
