She graduated from one of the most coveted performing arts schools in America, Book T. She followed up her studies at Prairie View A&M University, where she studied in Mass Communications. Pursuing her natural passions, Kaela spent a lot of years with Majestic Theatre/Music Hall in management. She also spent years on the radio. Kaela started humbly as a KPVU intern and worked her way up to working
with legendary radio personality Russ Parr. She also made her mark in prestigious companies such as Sprint Communications, Southwest Airlines, and Dr. Pepper/Seven Up, Inc.. After leaving Corporate America, she received her Childcare Associates in Child Development and opened a home daycare in 2005. In 2013, she transitioned into a center based child care facility. Kaela is the current owner and director of Kaela's Kids Academy. God has continually blessed Kaela's Kids Academy to be a driving force in the childcare industry for 16 years, and it continues to grow. At the start of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic tremendously affected Kaela's Kids Academy but it remained open for families who needed quality child care. Though KKA remained open, the financial hardship experienced was noticeable, so Kaela decided to pursue other means of income. She completed her certification to become an instructor in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and a Notary Public. Recently in 2021, Kaela decided to further her expertise and services by becoming a certified Birthing Doula. What is a doula? A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, informational, and spiritual support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth. A doula is a pivotal part of new and experienced mothers’ support system. Why did Kaela start the journey to becoming a doula?
1. To help further her education and experience over the years with KKA families and offer her Doula services to the parents in the childcare center;
2. Her inspiration came from her own personal postpartum experience. Kaela started experiencing panic and anxiety about a week after giving birth to her second child. She didn't have any guidance at the time but by the Grace of God, she overcame;
3. To serve not only birthing mothers, but families as a whole - including ‘Sibling Doula’ and ‘End of Life Doula’;
4. She plans to specialize in Postpartum Depression, including how it relates to the spouse or partner, and the family as a whole;
