We don’t “fix” people.

(We’re therapists, not appliance repair.)

What we do is help you untangle the emotional knots you tied yourself—sometimes with the enthusiasm of someone assembling IKEA furniture at midnight.

You bring the tangled mess.

We bring the flashlight, the emotional roadmap, and maybe a snack.

Together, we figure it out—no Allen wrench required.

Stanford supports professionals and individuals who carry a lot and want to carry it better. Therapy can be the difference between feeling stuck and moving forward.

You don’t have to be in crisis to want something more.

👉 What’s changed most in how you relate to yourself since starting therapy?

12/04/2025

🌿 Change rarely feels tidy.

In relationships, growth often looks like acceptance—the quiet recognition that time, difference, and imperfection are all part of the process.

Every season teaches this truth in its own way. 🍂

Dr. Paul Stanford didn’t set out to build a therapy practice. He set out to fix what felt broken—in the experience of therapy itself.

Too often, clients left therapy feeling unheard, mismatched, or stuck. He believed there was a better way.

Today, Stanford Couples Counseling is home to a team of highly trained, relationally focused therapists —each selected for their clinical excellence and human insight. The Stanford team represents a range of licensure types and therapeutic disciplines, offering depth, diversity, and care that meets clients where they are.

The Stanford difference is rooted in thoughtful therapist-client matching, a phased roadmap for real progress, and a culture that treats relational health as essential—not optional.

This is therapy that’s purposeful, personal, and built to create lasting change.

Thanksgiving is more than a date on the calendar. It's a relationship—with our people, our stories, our past, our present.

Sometimes that relationship feels full and joyful. Sometimes it feels strained or lonely. Often, it’s both.

At Stanford Couples Counseling, we believe connection is something we practice, not just something we have. And on a day built around gathering, that truth feels especially tender.

So to our clients, our team, and every person navigating togetherness, distance, or in-between spaces this holiday—we see you. We’re grateful for you.

And we’re holding deep thanks for every quiet act of care, honesty, and hope that brings people closer.

We love cookies. Truly.

But not enough to break the law.

So when your spouse asks, “What did they really say in their individual session?”—even with baked goods in hand—the answer is still no.

Confidentiality isn’t just a policy. It’s the foundation of trust.

Without it, therapy doesn’t work.

With it, you get a space where truth can actually show up.

(And for the record, if we were bribable, it would take at least a whole cheesecake. Probably homemade.)
