Rain or shine, sleet or snow - our commitment to our patients never wavers. 🤍
We captured this sweet moment of first-time dad, Grayson, safely bringing his wife and their new baby girl, Violet, home from the hospital this past weekend. While we had many "special deliveries" during the winter storm, we’re especially grateful to this family for sharing their story with us saying, "The doctors and nurses at Medical City Dallas deftly guided us through the birth of our daughter. Everyone went to great lengths not just to explain each step of the process, but also to empower us in navigating Violet’s first few weeks. It blows our minds that only a few nights ago we were brought in for our planned induction on a cold, wintry evening and now the three of us are cozy at home in front of the fireplace. Our sincerest thanks to all the nurses and doctors at Medical City Dallas."

Do you know what your numbers mean? They can reveal far more about your health than you might think. Blood pressure naturally rises and falls throughout the day, but when it stays high, your risk rises too. 📈 Nearly half of Americans have high blood pressure, often with no symptoms – that’s why high blood pressure is known as the “silent killer.”

As we prepare for the cold, our colleagues at Medical City Dallas and Medical City Heart and Spine Hospitals did more than care for our patients, they cared for each other like family. That commitment to one another helps ensure uninterrupted care for our community.

Ahead of this weekend’s winter weather, we set up on-site sleeping arrangements so our colleagues can stay safe, comfortable, and ready to care for patients when they’re needed most.

Grateful for the teams who continue to show up for our community, no matter the weather. 💙❄️

Across the Medical City Healthcare system, hospital colleagues are preparing for the winter storm by arranging overnight accommodations including comfort items like fuzzy socks, aromatherapy spray, lip balm and eye masks, to support staff who remain on-site. Many team members are stepping into any role needed – like volunteering to serve meals – to ensure that patients and fellow colleagues are cared for throughout the severe weather.
This is another way that we show up for our patients, our community – and each other – 24/7.

Walk in Your World Wednesday 👟

At Medical City Dallas, our leaders are lacing up and stepping into the action to see firsthand the excellent care happening across our units daily.

Medical City Children's Hospital Chief Nursing Officer, Tabitha South, shares her experience, saying, "I had the privilege to be with Tawuana in our Mom Baby department.

‌During our time together, I was able to witness her engagement with the newborns and their parents and how she tailored each interaction to meet the families where they are in their journey and to engage and empower new parents.

‌Tawuana joined us less than six months ago but is not new to our facility or to nursing. In addition to being an exceptional member of our Mom Baby team, she tutors new graduates to help them prepare for their NCLEX exam both with knowledge and confidence.

‌What a way to support both the growing of families and the growing of nurses!"
