Medical City Dallas recently participated in a nationwide cereal drive! Overall, our hospital collected 19,649 servings of cereal!! The Risk/Quality Department was our big winner, donating 3,233 servings.

We donated it all to Lovepacs, a local organization that provides meals to students in North Texas who would otherwise go hungry during school holidays. Thank you to all of our staff for making a wonderful, positive impact on our community.

What is it like to have PTSD?

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) affects more than 12 million American adults each year. ⁣

What is it like to have PTSD? (post-traumatic stress disorder)⁣

PTSD may present differently for everyone. ⁣

There are four types of PTSD symptoms:⁣

1. Re-experiencing or reliving the event (nightmares, flashbacks, triggers)⁣

2. Hyperarousal or being on guard (being jittery or overly alert, difficulty sleeping or concentrating, feeling angry or irritable)⁣

3. Avoidance (avoiding crowds; avoiding certain smells, sights or sounds; avoiding talking or thinking about the event)⁣

4. Negative changes in beliefs and feelings (feeling guilty or ashamed, losing interest in things you used to enjoy, unable to trust others)⁣

Dan Rembold's bike ride

Meet Dan Rembold, Medical City Dallas blood cancer survivor. When Dan showed up in our emergency department in 2017, unsure of what was wrong, his doctors said he was 72 hours away from death. After 84 days in our hospital for treatment of blood cancer, Dan got to return home. This weekend, he and his team will embark on the world’s toughest bike race, Race Across America, to raise awareness of pediatric cancer. Jon donated a kidney to a patient at Medical City Dallas as part of a paired organ exchange with Medical City Fort Worth. In 2020, the collaborative transplant programs at Medical City Dallas and Medical City Fort Worth performed 277 solid organ transplants.
