Mild-to-moderate cramps can be a normal part of your menstrual cycle. But when drags on for days, disrupts work or school or makes everyday life feel overwhelming, it could be your body’s way of saying that something more is going on. This is especially true if you’re also dealing with heavy bleeding, nausea or worsening pain.

When first-time mom Lindsay Tidwell was induced at 37 weeks due to gestational hypertension, she felt nervous. But from the moment her nurse, Madeline, walked in, her calm, kind presence instantly put Lindsay at ease.

Throughout labor, Madeline ensured Lindsay was comfortable and supported. When the baby's heart rate changed with each contraction, she closely monitored the situation while remaining calm and reassuring.

Knowing how important a natural birth was to Lindsay, Madeline advocated alongside Kathryn Waldrep, MD, to safely manage the baby's heart rate. Thanks to her attentiveness and determination, Lindsay was able to successfully deliver her healthy baby girl.

Now two months old, baby Cecilie is thriving. In gratitude for the compassionate care she received, Lindsay nominated Madeline for a DAISY Award, a meaningful recognition of the extraordinary impact she had on one of the most important days of her life.

Celebrating Our DAISY & BEE Award Winners 🐝🌼

Congratulations to Surgical Intensive Care Unit nurses, Nonie Igagamao and Hailey Nguyen, and respiratory therapist Amy Harvey, for their extraordinary compassion and teamwork.

Together, they created a life-changing moment for a long-term liver transplant patient, James Jewison, who had been hospitalized for over 200 days. Ventilator-dependent with complex medical needs, he had not felt fresh air or sunshine in months. Through careful coordination and unwavering dedication, this team safely brought him outside, where his joy was immediate and unforgettable.

What may seem like a simple act restored dignity, hope, and humanity. This is the power of compassionate care. 💛

Every birth story is unique.🤰 For some moms, it may involve cesarean delivery, also known as a C-section. Doctors perform this major abdominal surgery for a variety of reasons, often related to complications during pregnancy or delivery. If you’re expecting a baby, it’s important to understand the risks and benefits of the procedure. For example, having a C-section increases the chance that you will need a C-section for future deliveries.

Each year, more than 200,000 babies are born in hospitals across our broader HCA Healthcare network. If you’re expecting and exploring your birth options – including when a C section might be recommended – finding the right obstetrician is an important first step. As a proud partner of March of Dimes, HCA Healthcare is committed to improving maternal and neonatal outcomes through clinical data, pioneering research and compassionate care. Learn more about C-sections from March of Dimes: https://bit.ly/4b5kmBo

Every year in the U.S., around 900,000 people are diagnosed with serious blood clots, also called venous thromboembolisms (VTEs). More than half of these patients are hospitalized, and many don’t realize what’s happening until symptoms send them to the emergency room. Recognizing the warning signs early – and seeking care fast – can save lives.

Our community came together for an empowering evening centered on connection, education, and championing women's health. We heard from two impressive panels of women's health experts who shared how we can best take care of our bodies, from our hearts and beyond.
