Last night was a meaningful one at Avanti Assisted Living and Memory Care in Flower Mound!
SilverStone Health hosted a special Hospice and Palliative Care Education Forum for residents and families. Dr. Amanda Abbott and Patient Care Advocate Kelli Black led a heartfelt discussion, answered important questions, and helped bring clarity to what supportive care really means.

Thank you to the wonderful Avanti community for joining us — we’re honored to walk this journey with you.

🩺 Today is National Healthcare Decisions Day 🗓️
Let’s talk about something that matters to everyone — making your healthcare wishes known. 💬

NHDD is a reminder that it’s never too early to have the conversation about advance care planning. Whether it’s choosing a healthcare proxy or completing an advance directive, these steps ensure your voice is heard — even if you can't speak for yourself. ❤️

✅ Talk with your loved ones
✅ Choose someone you trust
✅ Put it in writing

Let’s normalize the conversation. Let’s empower each other. Let’s plan ahead.

Parkinson's disease affects millions of people worldwide. By raising awareness and supporting research, World Parkinson's Day contributes to improving the lives of those living with the condition and finding a cure. The increase in Parkinson's disease diagnoses is primarily due to an aging population, increased awareness, and potentially environmental factors. While age is the biggest risk factor, other factors like genetics and environmental exposures may also play a role. In 1980 a Dutch horticulturalist with Parkinson's disease developed a red and white tulip to honor Dr. Parkinson. At the 9th World Parkinson's Disease Day Conference in 2005, his tulip was launched as the official symbol of the condition.

Sunday, March 30th is National Doctors' Day. The theme for 2025 is "Behind the Mask: Caring for Caregivers," focusing on recognizing and supporting the well-being of physicians and healthcare professionals. This theme shifts the focus from simply thanking doctors to actively supporting their well-being and addressing the challenges they face, including burnout. The goal is to move beyond words of gratitude and provide tangible support and solutions to help physicians maintain their health and resilience.
