Meet Milo! This guy is a certifiable bundle of fun, just sitting back and watching him go in the play yard. He is a Terrier, Pit Bull mix who only weighs 38 pounds full grown; what is often referred to as a “Pocket Pittie.” He was brought into the SPCA of Texas as a stray in July 2021. He is a rather particular fellow and doesn’t always take too kindly to other dogs, so he would definitely prefer to be the only dog in the house. It would also be best to have all kids in the home at least 10 years old. A backyard with a secure fence would be a great benefit for Milo as he does like to romp around. Milo is at the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center, so a prior appointment is necessary to meet with him in person.

Meet Leo! He’s a mixed breed dog waiting for his forever home at the SPCA of Texas. Leo has white fur with brown spots, including the proverbial patch over one eye on his face. He’s a big boy at 65 pounds and he is just over 3 years old. Leo is a friendly enough guy, but he needs a slow introduction. He came to the SPCA of Texas from an animal cruelty case. He’s made great strides and looks forward to fun times ahead, and a home with a calm environment would give him a sense of security for the transition. He’s good with kids over the age of 5, and does well with other dogs too. Leo is currently housed at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center, so no appointment is necessary to meet him in person.

Meet Henry! He is a jolly little fellow waiting for a forever home with the SPCA of Texas. Henry is a 45-pound mixed breed dog with an attractive coat of golden-brown hair. He has big puppy dog eyes and a devilish grin that sometimes seems a little mischievous. Henry is 5-and-a-half years old, so he is quite playful but out of the silly puppy phase. He seems to do just fine with children under 12 and other dogs too, so he might be a perfect addition to an already-dog-friendly abode. His positive demeanor is quite admirable as he came to the SPCA of Texas from a hoarding case in Kaufman County back in March. Henry is in currently in foster care, so a prior appointment is necessary to meet him in person.

Meet Minerva! She is a Shepherd mix who weighs 55 pounds and has a regal, light brown coat of fur. Minerva is four years old, so she’s a well-seasoned pup. She is named for the Roman goddess of wisdom and justice, probably for her piercingly beautiful eyes that are wise and captivating. She loves treats, toys and snuggling up with a trusted friend. She was found as a stray wandering the streets of Ennis alone, so not too much is known about her earliest days. Minerva needed a little bit of medical TLC upon arrival, and is still being treated for heartworms, so she is on exercise restrictions but is otherwise a healthy gal. She is currently in foster care, so making an appointment in advance is necessary to meet with her in person.

Meet Howie! He’s a good ole’ boy who is hoping to find a forever home with a great family. He is an older dog at 7 years, and he is really hoping to find the perfect place to live out his golden years. Howie is not too picky about what kind of home and family he wants to go to, but he does need his space as he is a mix between a Great Pyrenees and Anatolian Shepherd and weighs a whopping 75 pounds. He has a wise and friendly face with a big smile. His fur is white with large taupe patches and dark highlights around the eyes. Howie was found as a stray in Ellis County, and never wants to be alone again. Howie seems to get along with kids, other dogs, and just about anyone who is friendly.

Meet Loofah! He is a very handsome young man who was a bit of a wanderer in his younger days (ergo, he came in to the SPCA of Texas as a stray). He weighs 54 pounds and is covered with a thick coat of black and brown fur. He is fast approaching 4 years of age and is very anxious to be adopted into a wonderful family and forever home. He was a bit skittish when he came into the shelter and can still be a bit shy with new people, but has since relaxed quite a bit and enjoys spending time with the staff. Loofah would love to find a home with a securely fenced backyard and should go into a home where all the kiddos are at least 12 years old. He might do well as a second dog, so bring any current pets to the shelter for a meet-and-greet prior to adoption.
