Week 8 and 9 on this Apartment Gardening Journey. I'm so excited to see what growing from seeds looks like. My last 4 bags are set up differently with the planting of the fruited veggies in the center, root veggies on 2 rows, and leafy/herbs/flowers around the edges. My last bag will be the 10th bag, which will be built close to the summer; that would be my squash bag or sweet potatoes 🤔🤷🏾‍♀️, still processing the idea. My fall setup will have more space than what I've done in these bags. This was my first attempt, and I was too excited and did chaos gardening. But now I know better because I don't think my carrots are going to make it; we'll see. In my greens bag, I forgot to say: collard, mustard, and Swiss chard with parsley and cilantro and whatever else I said in the video. 😂

LORD, MY GOD above, make us fruitful. ALL GLORY TO GOD ABOVE 🙏🏾🙌🏾
John 15:16 KJV
[16] Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
Psalm 1:3 KJV
[3] And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That bringeth forth his fruit in his season; His leaf also shall not wither; And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Hi family, I'm on my apartment gardening journey. It just shows you can grow anywhere. Check out this Gift List I just created: https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/281D3U3UH5FER?ref_=cm_sw_r_apann_ggr-subnav-share_FPEY9CXH74V5E0RMYA85&language=en-US
Please help me... It's not just for me; this is my training ground for Kingdom work.

If you’re building a raised bed and want it to “feed real people,” this kind of simple grouping helps a lot. 🥕🥬🍅 Here’s how to make it work even in a small space:
🌱 Go vertical: peas and cucumbers climb, so add a trellis and you’ll triple your harvest area
🗓️ Think seasons: greens, peas, and broccoli love cool weather; tomatoes and peppers want heat
✂️ Succession plant: sow lettuce/spinach every 2–3 weeks so you don’t get one giant harvest all at once
🌼 Add flowers like marigolds for color and to help bring in pollinators

Root vegetable companion planting 🥕🧅🌱 Companion planting is basically “good neighbors” in the same bed: one plant shades soil, another confuses pests, another uses different nutrients. 🙌
Beginner-friendly tips:
✅ Pair fast growers (radish) with slow growers (carrots/parsnips) to mark rows and make weeding easier
✅ Keep spacing in mind—roots need room underground even if tops look small
✅ Add a thin layer of compost before planting (roots like steady, not heavy, feeding)
Tiny win: mixed plantings can help you harvest something every week instead of all at once. 🌿

20 veggies for partial shade in pots 🌿⛅ Not everyone has full sun—and that’s okay! With 3–5 hours of light, you’ll get the best results from leafy greens + roots + herbs.
Beginner tips for low-sun container harvests:
🪴 Bigger pot = steadier moisture + better growth
💧 Water earlier in the day (shade can stay damp longer)
🌱 Sow greens every 2–3 weeks for nonstop picking
Bonus: Morning sun + afternoon shade is often perfect for lettuce and spinach (less bolting when it warms up). 🥬

Veggies for Partial Shade in Pots (3–5 Hours Sun) 🥬 Not everyone has full sun—and that’s okay. 🌤️ Many leafy greens and quick growers do great with morning sun + afternoon shade. To get the best harvest in lower light:
🌱 Go for leaves over fruits (lettuce beats tomatoes in shade)
💧 Water consistently—shade pots still dry out in wind
🍃 Harvest often (“cut and come again”) to keep plants producing
Perfect for patios, balconies, and those tricky low-sun corners. 🪴

Herb Combos That Share a Pot (How to Make Them Thrive) 🪴 Planting herbs together is awesome—IF they like the same conditions. 🙌
Beginner cheat sheet:
☀️ Mediterranean herbs (rosemary/thyme/oregano) like sun + drier soil
🌿 Tender herbs (basil/cilantro/parsley) like even moisture
Tip: if you mix different needs, put the “thirsty” herb in its own pot so you’re not overwatering the others. 💧
And pinch often—harvesting is how herbs get bushy! ✂️

Peppers don't need isolation — and they produce better when planted with the right neighbors.
The space around shorter pepper plants can support companions that deter pests, improve soil, attract pollinators, and provide light shade during peak heat, all while peppers ripen above.

- Basil — Zones 5–10
Repels aphids, thrips, and spider mites while improving pepper flavor when planted close.

- Marigold — Zones 2–11
Deters aphids and whiteflies with strong scent while attracting beneficial predators.

- Nasturtium — Zones 3–10
Acts as a trap crop, drawing aphids away from pepper foliage and fruit.

- Carrots — Zones 3–10
Grow at different root depths, loosening soil without competing for nutrients.

- Chives — Zones 3–9
Repel aphids and improve pepper health with sulfur compounds in roots.

- Parsley — Zones 4–9
Attracts hoverflies and predatory wasps that feed on pepper pests.

- Calendula — Zones 2–11
Draws beneficial insects and adds color between green pepper plants.

- Sweet Alyssum — Zones 5–9
Honey-scented groundcover that attracts parasitic wasps and lacewings.

- Oregano — Zones 5–9
Low-growing aromatic mat that repels pests and tolerates light shade from pepper foliage.

When peppers are surrounded by purpose-planted companions, fruit sets better and pest pressure drops naturally.
