“So…I don’t feel attracted to my spouse anymore and it’s hard for me to want s*x often. Now what?”

I get asked that question so many times in marital counseling. Honestly, this challenge is a normal part of being in a long-term relationship. You go through the ebbs and flows of falling in love and falling out of love | The Therapist Within | Online Marriage Counseling, Relationship Coun

You have been hurt by the presence of infidelity in your relationship. This breach of trust could have happened a long time ago. It could have happened last year or you could have just discovered it this week. Time can be relevant or irrelevant depending on who looks at it or how you look at it. What matters most is that it hurts like hell and that you feel like things are falling apart, you are falling apart.

Not all types of therapy are designed to treat infidelity. An affair is a very serious type of attachment trauma that can potentially sever your emotional bonding with your loved one | Online Marriage Counseling, Relationship Counseling, & Couples Therapy | Dallas & Throughout Texa

Thank you to ShoutoutDFW for sharing my story! I name my private practice The Therapist Within Counseling to reflect my belief that we all have that therapist within ourselves who is wise, compassionate, empathetic, and authentic. We all have that inner strength that helps guide us in becoming the best version of ourselves. I am passionate about helping millennials build healthy and fulfilling relationships. I want to help couples and singles make real, long-lasting changes for their lives and relationships.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Turner and we've shared our conversation below. Hi Michelle, what principle do you value most? Authenticity and Transperancy are important work and life principles to me. As a relationship therapist, I want my clients to know who I am from the

When a relationship is in trouble, couples face a few choices: a. Keep going and live with the relationship as is or b. End the relationship. What you may not know is that there is a third option. You do not have to keep going and live with the relationship as is while resentment and disappointment pile up.

You do not have to keep going and live with the relationship as is while resentment and disappointment pile up. You do not have to go for that default setting by ending the relationship right away just because you are afraid that nothing is going to change | Online Marriage Counseling, Relation

Why “Happy Wife, Happy Life” Is a Problematic Marriage Expectation.

The “Happy wife, happy life” saying is the most problematic expectation in my opinion. It implies that in order for a marriage to succeed, it falls on women to behave in a certain way. It implies perfectionism. It’s an unrealistic view of a happy marriage | Marriage Counseling, Relationship Co...

5 Reasons Why Online Couples Therapy Is Effective.
I’ve been offering my relationship counseling services to millennial couples and singles exclusively online via video sessions for over two years and a half now. Prior to that, I was one of those therapists who had a skeptical view of online couples therapy. Read more to check out what changed my mind!

I was one of those therapists who had a skeptical view of online couples counseling. I resisted it at first, just like many of us do when we consider trying something new | Marriage Counseling, Relationship Counseling, & Couples Therapy | Dallas & Throughout Texas via Telehealth. B

Intentional and meaningful conversations are the glue of a loving relationship.

L-O-V-E conversations means letting your partner or someone you love know that:

- You are willing to put aside any judgements or presumptions, as much as possible, to listen to what each other have to say with an open heart and mind.

- You can own your feelings even when they make you feel uncomfortable.

- Instead of thinking about what to say next in the dialogue, you choose to validate and acknowledge your partner’s experience in the moment. That’s you saying “I care.”

- You want to help your partner understand you in the dialogue by using a soft tone, speaking at a slow pace, and using simple words.

It’s common to think that we can control our grief, terror, and shame by remaining silent. It’s common to feel afraid that you may make your traumatic memorries become “real” if you say it out loud or share it with another person. Truth is, if you have been hurt, it is important that you can acknowledge and name what happened to you.

Naming “what happened to me” offers a different kind of control. Acknowledgement provides self-empowerment. So, remind yourself today:

1. Don’t fight trauma alone. Get professional help.
2. Self-shaming is the enemy of recovery.
3. Share your story with a trusted source.
4. Accept your own pace in recovery.
5. Be kind to yourself along the way.
